Summary: Two Lu2O@C-80 isomers, Lu2O@C-1(31876)-C-80 and Lu2O@C-2v(5)-C-80, were successfully isolated and identified using X-ray crystallography. The unprecedented cage structure of C-1(31876)-C-80 with adjacent pentagons can undergo a two-step Stone-Wales transformation to closely connect with C-2v(5)-C-80. The C-1(31876)-C-80 cage plays a crucial role in the transformation map of oxide cluster fullerenes, filling a gap in the formation process.

Summary: Infections caused by drug-resistant fungi are a major threat to human health. Antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) has shown potential in fighting fungal infections. This study presents a new strategy to prepare powerful photosensitizers (PSs) for efficient aPDT by introducing a porous cage compound. The modified PS exhibited significantly higher anti-fungal efficiency against drug-resistant fungi, making it a promising antifungal agent.

Summary: A conceptual approach for the synthesis of quasi-heteroleptic complexes with properly endo-functionalized cages as ligands is introduced. The synthesized cage ligand, inspired by enzymatic active sites, has a covalent organic nature and demonstrates unique coordination properties to transition metals. Analysis of the iron(II) complex in both solution and solid state confirms the structure and lack of undesired dimerization, making Fe@2 a detailed structural model complex for non-heme iron oxygenases.

ActVA-ORF4 catalyzes the intermolecular C-C bond formation using DHK-OH as the substrate, while ActVA-ORF3 is a quinone-forming enzyme that produces the coupling substrate DHK-OH and the final product ACT.

Summary: An adaptive, achiral trithiourea molecular cage and its conformational and stereodynamics toward tricarboxylate anion binding are reported. The cage exhibits a flexible conformation and strongly binds 1,3,5-benzene tricarboxylate, forming a sandwich-like inclusion complex. By incorporating chiral arms on the guest, a gear-like complex with a specific helical sense is produced.

Summary: Incorporating radical ligands into metal complexes is a growing trend in the design of single-molecule magnets. The described mononuclear transition metal SMMs feature high-spin iron(II) complexes with antiferromagnetically coupled alpha-diiminato radical ligands. Experimental and theoretical studies indicate that these complexes exhibit slow magnetic relaxation behavior with a strong magnetic exchange coupling.

Summary: New axially blocked unsymmetrical dirhodium complexes can photocatalyze the production of H-2 under red light irradiation with a high turnover number (TON) of 23 +/- 3 in the presence of acid and a sacrificial donor, thanks to their multiple metal/ligand-to-ligand charge transfer transitions that improve their absorption of light into the near-IR.
