Summary: A bifunctional ionic liquid has been designed and explored as a catalyst for the synthesis of 2-phenylquinazolin-4(3H)-ones. The reaction can be completed in 3.5 minutes using microwave irradiation. In addition, the ionic liquid was used to assist the oxidation of benzyl alcohol to aldehyde without the need for metal catalysts, solvents, and bases. The multifunctionality of the ionic liquid was further confirmed in the synthesis of two Wnt pathway antagonists.

Summary: A self-healing ionic polyurethane (i-PU) with compatibility and strong interaction is successfully synthesized by using an ionic chain extender containing an ammonium cationic group, allowing for complete self-healing at room temperature. The material demonstrates excellent compatibility and strong interaction through electrostatic interaction and chain diffusion, as proven by low contact angle and DFT calculation.

Summary: Evaluating the stability and biological activity of monoclonal antibodies is crucial for their optimal performance. pH buffers, surfactants, salts, and sugars are commonly used to control aggregation of antibodies. In this study, 2-MIDHP was found to be a potent acid-resistant agent that effectively prevented aggregation of Bevacizumab.

Summary: This study investigates the effects of imidazolium nano GSAILs, salts, and pH on the crude oil-water system. Results show that medium and long alkyl chain GSAILs significantly reduce interfacial tension and critical micelle concentration. Furthermore, alkaline conditions enhance emulsification with imidazolium nano GSAILs.

Summary: The properties of N-methyl-2-pyrrolidonium hydrogen sulfate mixed with alkanols were studied by considering experimental physicochemical properties and molecular simulation. The results provided a multiscale characterization of the mixed systems, showing complex hydrogen bonding networks and potential applications for low-viscosity protic pyrrolidonium-based ionic liquids and their mixtures.

Summary: Green extraction of natural products from plants using novel bio-renewable ionic liquids has attracted attention from the industry. In this study, 1-amino-2-propanol-based ionic liquids were used to selectively extract antioxidants from Mugwort. Different PA-ILs showed varying extraction efficiency for polyphenols, flavones, and polysaccharides, with flavones being identified as the major antioxidants. Additionally, the extract contained more polar substances compared to conventional solvents, and PA-ILs were found to have lower cytotoxicity than pure PA.

Summary: This study examines the recycling of ionic liquids (ILs) from aqueous solution using nanofiltration (NF) and investigates the factors influencing filtration performance. The pH, ionic strength, and macromolecular organic matter were found to have significant effects on the volume flux (Jv) and observed rejection (R-obs). Quantum chemical calculations and molecular simulations were used to understand the interactions between ILs and the NF membrane under different conditions. The study reveals that pH and ionic strength impact the Jv and R-obs values, while the presence of macromolecular organic matter leads to membrane fouling and affects the separation efficiency of ILs by NF.

Summary: This study investigates the effectiveness of ionic liquids (ILs) in transdermal drug delivery, and reveals the critical role of water in their structural organization and transport efficacy. The experiment shows that a formulation with 50% v/v water concentration exhibits the best transport of dextran. The presence of microemulsions in the 75% v/v water concentration formulation is believed to be responsible for the significantly decreased transport efficacy.

Summary: This work reports the high SO2 capture capacity of 2-pyridineethanol and investigates the effects of temperature and pressure on its absorption process. The findings show that 2-pyridineethanol has a high SO2 capacity, low energy cost regeneration process, excellent reversibility, and reacts with SO2 to form a zwitterionic sulfite. These findings are valuable in the design of efficient absorbents for SO2 capture.
