Summary: Filipino patients with thyroid cancer are more likely to present with locoregionally advanced disease, with higher rates of nodal metastasis and distant metastasis. They have worse survival outcomes compared to other Asians and non-Asians, but this may be driven by their higher rates of locoregionally advanced disease.

Summary: The burden of cardiovascular disease (CVD) is increasing in the aging population, with disparities in risk factors and outcomes found among Asian American and NH/PI subgroups. NH/PI subgroups have higher rates of CVD risk factors such as obesity, diabetes, and hypertension, with Native Hawaiians showing significantly greater odds of reporting stroke compared to White adults. More attention is needed on NH/PIs due to their disproportionate burden of CVD risk factors compared to White and Asian American counterparts.

Summary: Identifying barriers to adequate healthcare for sexual minority populations is challenging due to complexity and variations within different sexual orientation subgroups. Despite similar health insurance coverage, sexual minorities face more chronic health conditions and limited healthcare access, with dissatisfaction in medical provider experiences. Understanding and addressing these disparities is crucial for improving the health outcomes of sexual minority populations.

Summary: Identifying barriers to adequate health care for sexual minority populations is challenging due to the complexity and variability across different sexual orientation subgroups. Despite equal health insurance coverage, sexual minorities reported higher rates of chronic conditions and unmet health-care needs. They also experienced less satisfactory encounters with medical providers.

Summary: Research on the social dimensions of health and health care among sexual and gender minorities has been rapidly growing in the past two decades, yet a comprehensive interdisciplinary review on the topic has not been written. The synthesis of recent scholarship discusses major empirical findings, theoretical implications, and limitations in the field, as well as suggests promising directions for future research and theory building. SGM health bridges social and health sciences and contributes to broader sociological concerns regarding sexuality- and gender-based inequalities.

Summary: The endocrine care of pediatric and adult patients is affected by disparities due to the basic structures of health systems, research modalities, and policies that impact access to care and social determinants of health. This scientific statement focuses on endocrine disease disparities in the pediatric population and sexual and gender minority populations. Important findings include disparities in medical attention for short stature, underrepresentation of racially and ethnically diverse populations and males in studies of pubertal development and peak bone mass, and higher burden of obesity and diabetes in racial, ethnic, and LGBTQIA populations. Multilevel interventions and changes in health policies are needed to address these disparities.

Summary: The aim of this study was to explore the plans, considerations, and factors influencing long-term care among older sexual minority women. Interviews with 37 Taiwanese women revealed that the most common long-term care plans included housing and institutions, medical or long-term care insurance, financial planning, and medical decisions. Factors associated with their plans were categorized into intrapersonal, interpersonal, community, and societal levels. Recommendations are provided to reduce health disparities and anxiety among this population.
