Summary: A mono-DMSO cobalt meso-CF3 corrole was synthesized and characterized, and its spectral and electrochemical properties in nonaqueous media were investigated. The results indicated that the presence of electron-withdrawing trifluoromethyl substituents at the meso-carbon atoms of the macrocycle enhanced the ease of reduction and hindered oxidation. The effects of DMSO, pyridine, and cyanide anions on the compound's electrochemistry and spectral properties were examined, showing the formation of a bis-CN adduct with only two molar equivalents.

Summary: A recent study has reported that a mu-oxo-bridged dimer of Si(iv) corrole exhibits dual emissive properties depending on the solvent viscosity. In this study, the control of excited-state dynamics and dual emission was examined by introducing meso-aryl substituents. Different structures and emission behaviors were observed in the solid state and excited state, suggesting the importance of molecular structure on the dual emissive properties.

Summary: A new family of fi-dicyanovinyl (DCV)-appended corroles, MTPC(MN), were synthesized and their spectroscopic and electrochemical properties were investigated. The results showed that the fi-DCV group had a pronounced substituent effect on the physicochemical properties, making the MTPC(MN) derivatives easier to reduce and more difficult to oxidize. The DCV metallocorroles CuTPC(MN) and AgTPC(MN) acted as chemodosimeters for selective cyanide ion detection, while (PPh3)CoTPC(MN) acted as a chemosensor for cyanide ion sensing.

Summary: In this study, two asymmetric tricarboxylate ligands were designed and synthesized by manipulating the substituents to engineer the ligand conformations, leading to the successful targeting of two copper-tricarboxylate frameworks with diversified topologies. These compounds also showed tunable gas adsorption properties, particularly for C2H2 separation and purification, highlighting the potential of simple ligand modification to tune the structures and properties of resulting MOFs.

Summary: Four derivatives of 2-(1H-imidazo[4,5-b]phenazin-2-yl)phenol were synthesized and characterized structurally using X-ray crystallography. Coordination complexes with uranyl (UO22+) and copper (Cu2+) were prepared, with increased fluorescence observed upon uranyl binding and rapid quenching observed with the addition of copper. These phenomena have been further examined using DFT computational methods.

Summary: Energy harvesting by utilizing optical control has emerged as a promising solution to alleviate energy and environmental crisis. However, it is challenging to realize nano-scale energy storage and conversion in the same material. Here the authors report a nonferroelectric molecular [CoGa] crystal that uses light as an external stimulus to exhibit photoenergy conversion and energy storage properties.

Summary: Group 4 metal-Salan olefin polymerization catalysts have low activity due to a pre-equilibrium favoring a non-polymerization active state. Catalysts with large, flat substituents show high activity, possibly due to stabilization of a more favorable active isomer. The choice of ligand and solvent can affect the isomer structure and activity of the catalyst.

Summary: The thermal behavior of alkyl-derivatized 1-(2,4-dimethylphenylazo)-4-naphthol and 1-(2,4-dimethylphenylazo)-2-naphthol (2,4-DM-4-Cn and 2,4-DM-2-Cn, respectively) was investigated. The change in the position of the alkyl substituent led to a variation in the thermal behavior, including cold crystallization. The study also revealed that the alkyl chain length affected the crystallinity, with better crystallinity observed with shorter alkyl chains. Additionally, the crystal structure of 2,4-DM-4-Cn was stabilized by pi-pi, C-H...pi interactions, while polymorphism hindered the formation of a uniform crystalline phase for 2,4-DM-2-Cn.

The Cross' Tapered Gridded Estimator (Cross TGE) is introduced to estimate the multifrequency angular power spectrum and mitigate various effects. The application of Cross TGE on uGMRT Band 3 data yields improved upper limits and best-fitting values for foregrounds and parameters.

Summary: In order to evaluate the impact of policy intervention on a group of units over time, this paper introduces a robust estimator of the average treatment effect (ATE) and subsequent inference procedures using the minimum density power divergence inference approach. The proposed ATE estimator's asymptotic properties are derived, and robust test statistics are constructed for testing parametric hypotheses related to the ATE. Extensive simulation studies are conducted to evaluate the finite-sample performances of the proposed estimation and testing procedures under different data conditions. The robustness of the ATE estimator is further investigated theoretically through influence function analyses. Finally, the proposed approach is applied to study the long-term economic effects of the 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami on the GDP of five affected countries.

Summary: Quantum chemical calculations have predicted the existence of a low-energy LUMO in perfluorinated polyhedral organic molecules, allowing them to encapsulate an electron. Inspired by the confirmation of this prediction for perfluorocubane, the authors identified other perfluorinated cage molecules that exhibit the same behavior, known as the perfluoro cage effect (PCE). The size of the cage molecule affects its electron affinity, with larger cages exhibiting higher values. The PCE is more prominent in larger cages like perfluorinated dodecahedrane and C-60, while it is barely discernible in smaller cages like perfluorinated tetrahedrane and bicyclo[1.1.1]pentane.

Summary: This paper discusses the problem of guessing a random variable based on Tsallis' non-extensive entropic framework. Both conditional and unconditional guessing problems are considered, and non-extensive moment bounds of the required number of guesses are derived using the logarithmic norm entropy measure. The relationship between these moment bounds and the relative (alpha, beta)-entropies is explored.

The structure exhibits localized hydrogens on a pair of opposite pyrrole nitrogens, indicating the presence of low-barrier hydrogen bonds. Summary: The influence of fluorinated substituents on the luminescent properties of rhenium-oxo, osmium-nitrido, and gold triarylcorroles was investigated. It was found that fluorinated substituents enhanced the luminescent properties, with higher phosphorescence quantum yields and triplet decay times observed with increasing fluorine content. Among the studied complexes, the highest phosphorescence quantum yield of 2.2% was achieved with Re[TPFPC](O).

Summary: This study reports the synthesis of square planar platinum(ii) tripyrrindiones, in which the biopyrrin binds as a tridentate radical. The properties of these complexes, including redox potentials and intermolecular interactions, can be modulated through changes in the redox state of the biopyrrin ligand or the nature of the monodentate ligand. The formation of diamagnetic pi dimers at low temperatures and the stacking of tripyrrindiones in the solid state were observed.

Summary: High-quality density functional theory calculations show that the ionization potentials (IPs) of neutral, low-valent carbon compounds, such as carbenes, ylides, and carbones, have a range of nearly 6 eV. Adiabatic IPs as low as 5.5 +/- 0.1 eV are predicted for carbodiphosphoranes (CDPs), which are lower than those of phosphorus and sulfur ylides. In contrast, N-heterocyclic carbenes have IPs around 8.0 eV, while simple singlet carbenes range from about 9.0 eV to over 11.0 eV.

This paper summarizes the collective efforts of Indian astronomers to understand the origin of the redshifted 21-cm signal, sources of ionizing photons, their propagation, cosmological effects, and statistical measures. The detection and analysis of the redshifted 21-cm signal are considered important objectives for the upcoming SKA-low telescope.
