Summary: This research presents a simple and effective method for preparing silver closo dodecaborate (Ag2B12H12) films using an electrochemical route. The size of the Ag2B12H12 particles in the films can be controlled by adjusting the electrochemical parameters. Ag nanoclusters with controllable sizes can be generated by electrochemical reduction reactions or thermal anneal. These Ag nanoparticles show promising performance for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) in an acidic solution. This study provides new insights into the synthesis of [B12H12](2-) based thin films, the generation of metal nano-powders, and their application in HER or other applications.

Summary: 3D-aromatic molecules are less common than 2D-aromatic species. This study explores the potential for double 3D-aromaticity in [B12I12] (0/2+), and the results indicate that it cannot be considered as doubly 3D-aromatic.

Summary: This work discusses the synthesis and characterization of a 2D coordination polymer composed of a dianionic perhydroxylated boron cluster coordinated to Zn(ii). Rigorous characterization techniques revealed the structure of the material and showed evidence of the dianionic boron cluster adjusting its coordination to Zn(ii) in the solid state.

Summary: Methodologies for synthesizing the first generation of 3-nitro-1,8-naphthalimides containing nido and closo moieties are reported. Boron-containing compounds were synthesized by reacting 3-nitro-1,8-naphthalic anhydride with ammonium derivatives of nido and closo ions. A novel boron-enriched mitonafide was obtained through nucleophilic ring-breakdown reaction. These synthesized compounds have potential as agents for boron neutron capture therapy for cancer.

Summary: This study synthesized novel oligonucleotide conjugates with closo-dodecaborate attached to different terminal positions of DNA, RNA, 2'-O-Me RNA, and 2'-F-Py RNA oligomers. The incorporation of boron clusters influenced the stability and double helix structure of the oligomers, with different effects observed for DNA and RNA sequences.

Summary: Novel amphiphilic compounds with dianionic head and alkoxy tail were synthesized to challenge the classical concept of step-like micellization. The surfactants self-assembled to form small micelles with decreasing aggregation number at higher concentration. Extensive counterion binding was observed in the micelles, and a three-step thermodynamic model was used to estimate the parameters associated with micellization process. The concept of step-like micellization was found to be inappropriate for these types of micelles.

Summary: In this work, an electrochemical study of the Boron cage monomercaptoundecahydro-closo-dodecaborate [B12H11SH](2-) in solution and in a self-assembled monolayer over a gold electrode was conducted. The study revealed the interaction between the boron cage and the gold surface, formation of a self-assembled monolayer, and the reduction of active sites on the gold surface due to the presence of the boron cage. Bulkier thiols were found to enhance charge accumulation at the electrode-solution interface.

Summary: Introducing B12H12Cs2 can improve the defects and strain of the buried SnO2/perovskite interface and enhance the performance of n-i-p type perovskite solar cells. B12H12Cs2 can passivate the bilateral defects of the buried interface and promote the charge transfer and extraction efficiency. Additionally, it can improve the crystal properties of perovskite films and release the buried tensile strain.

Summary: Three new salts based on perchlorinated closo-dodecaborate anion were synthesized and characterized using various techniques, with the application of 35Cl nuclear quadrupole resonance for the identification of noncovalent interactions being a notable first. The results revealed subtle perturbations in cluster electron density caused by weak noncovalent Cl...X interactions, and demonstrated the complementarity of X-ray structural information and Cl-35 NQR data.

Summary: The study investigates the unique structural and ion dynamical properties of NaCB11H12 dispersed within high-surface-area silica through salt-solution infiltration, revealing the formation of a nanoconfined phase with superionic properties that persist at subambient temperatures. Fast-cation diffusion promoted by high anion mobilities leads to Na+ superionic conductivities of around 0.3 mS/cm at room temperature, indicating future potential for conductivity enhancement in related polyhedral (carba)borate-based salts as solid-state electrolytes in battery applications.

Summary: This study explores the structural evolution of perhydroxylated closo-dodecaborate B-12(OH)(12)2- in water environment and the mechanism of water cluster formation. It reveals that each additional water molecule is locked into the intramolecular hydrogen bond B-O-H ternary ring in an embedded form. Unlike other bases, the competition during the formation of water clusters in perhydroxylated closo-dodecaborate B-12(OH)(12)2- is mainly dominated by B-(H-O) interactions. Through analysis, it is found that the largest water clusters in the first hydrated shell exhibit exceptional thermodynamic stability. These findings have significant scientific implications for designing boron cluster chemistry incorporating hydroxyl-group-modified borate salts with potential applications.

Summary: In this study, the method proposed by Gabel for the preparation of mono- and di-S,S-substituted derivatives of sulfanyl-closo-dodecaborate anion was extended to derivatives of the closo-decaborate anion. The Fukui functions for the nucleophilic attack of the S-atom in different anions were calculated using the Hirshfeld approach, showing that the nucleophilicity in the [B10H9SH](2-) anion was significantly lower compared to other compounds, consistent with experimental data.

Summary: Phenylacetylene can undergo regioselective and stereoselective reactions with different organometallic compounds at room temperature, forming various products. The stannylene shows the highest reactivity towards phenylacetylene, reacting immediately upon addition, while the plumbylenes require excess phenylacetylene for addition to the alkyne.
