The paper presents the application of the Raman and IR spectroscopic techniques for analysis of human breast tissue samples. The advantages and disadvantages of vibrational spectroscopy in analysis of tissue specimens are presented. The main goal of this paper is to pay attention to the problem of lack of the common well accepted protocols regarding the analysis of human tissues, which is crucial in real - time medical applications. In the manuscript the influence of sample preparation protocol on vibrational signatures are discussed. Histochemical analysis for fresh samples, paraffin embedded and deparaffinized tissues of human breast is presented. The advantages of fresh tissue specimens analysis are underline and discussed.
