Utility of Teledermatology in the Diagnosis of Loose Anagen Syndrome

Maria J. Lalama, Betty Nguyen, Erik L. Peterson, Antonella Tosti

Summary: Teletrichoscopy, combined with teledermatology, can be used to evaluate patients with hair loss. Various hair tests, such as self-performed pull tests and measurement of the distance from the hairline to the glabella, can be conducted during teledermatology visits. These tests, along with the use of mobile applications or low-cost handheld microscopes for imaging, can help virtually evaluate patients with hair loss.

Scalp Microinfusion: A Novel Drug Delivery Technique for Hair Loss Treatment

Rita Fernanda Cortez de Almeida, Daniel Fernandes Melo, Antonella Tosti

Summary: Scalp microinfusion is a promising technique for delivering drugs for hair loss treatment. The MMP(R) technique, combining micro-needling and drug delivery, provides optimal delivery of drugs into the skin. However, there is limited literature on this technique, despite its wide use in some countries. Further studies are needed to establish standardized protocols.

A comprehensive review of nondermatophyte mould onychomycosis: Epidemiology, diagnosis and management

Aditya K. Gupta, Tong Wang, Elizabeth A. Cooper, Richard C. Summerbell, Vincent Piguet, Antonella Tosti, Bianca Maria Piraccini

Summary: Nondermatophyte moulds (NDMs) are widely distributed and can be detected in mycotic nails. Differentiating between causative and contaminant role of NDMs in onychomycosis can be challenging. Clinical features are similar to dermatophyte onychomycosis but with some specific manifestations. Diagnosis involves microscopic examination and molecular testing with histological assessment. Limited information is available on treatment options for NDM onychomycosis, but terbinafine and itraconazole therapy can be effective.
