Biologics and small molecules have shown potential in revolutionizing the treatment of scalp psoriasis, with the newest biologics like anti-IL-17 and anti-IL-23 demonstrating high clinical performances in controlling the condition. However, individualized treatment selection is important due to a lack of direct comparisons between different treatment options.

Atypical Dermatitis Herpetiform and Scalp Psoriasis in Ulcerative Colitis Patient Treated With Adalimumab

Summary: We report a unique case of a 26-year-old female patient who developed a combination of dermatitis herpetiformis and scalp psoriasis paradoxically as a result of adalimumab treatment for ulcerative colitis. This is the first reported case of such a combination within the context of adalimumab therapy. Clinicians should be aware of and warn patients about the potential development of paradoxical psoriasis and dermatitis herpetiformis during adalimumab therapy.

Both treatments showed comparable improvements in PASI score at week 16 and had similar rates of adverse events and antidrug antibodies, supporting HLX03 as a viable alternative treatment for plaque psoriasis in China.

Is cutaneous microbiota a player in disease pathogenesis? Comparison of cutaneous microbiota in psoriasis and seborrheic dermatitis with scalp involvement

Summary: This study compared the scalp lesional and non-lesional microbiota in psoriasis vulgaris and seborrheic dermatitis with that in a healthy control group. The results showed that bacterial load and diversity were significantly increased in the lesions of both diseases compared to the controls. There were some common bacterial community changes in the lesions of both diseases, but there were also some differences.

A simple solution to create a custom scalp-sparing helmet to prevent alopecia in patients undergoing total skin electron beam therapy for cutaneous T cell lymphoma

This study evaluates the use of a custom blue wax polyethylene material to create a scalp-sparing helmet, aiming to prevent alopecia after TSEBT. The results show that this technique successfully minimizes radiation to the scalp without causing noticeable changes in hair volume.

Summary: Nondermatophyte moulds (NDMs) are widely distributed and can be detected in mycotic nails. Differentiating between causative and contaminant role of NDMs in onychomycosis can be challenging. Clinical features are similar to dermatophyte onychomycosis but with some specific manifestations. Diagnosis involves microscopic examination and molecular testing with histological assessment. Limited information is available on treatment options for NDM onychomycosis, but terbinafine and itraconazole therapy can be effective.
