Summary: This study examines how nonlisted SMEs respond to the financial constraints imposed by responsible investment policies. The findings suggest that while some SMEs may exit the market, the surviving ones significantly decreased their pollution. Foreign firms and those receiving government subsidies were found to be less affected by the policy, and larger firms experienced little change in internal cash flow reserves. In contrast, SMEs saw a significant decrease in cash flow reserves, indicating that financing constraints can incentivize improvements in environmental performance.

Summary: There is a focus on the role of knowledge in corporate sustainability reporting, with Europe publishing new directives and standards. However, no studies have covered the micro spectrum and focused on SMEs. This paper uses lexical analysis to analyze sustainability reports voluntarily disclosed by European SMEs and finds a positive relationship between company size and report length. This study provides an opportunity to improve knowledge about sustainability disclosure and standards for SMEs.

Summary: This study examines the effects of digitalization on technological innovations in German SMEs, focusing on three forms of digitalization: production and logistics digitalization, digital value chains, and big data analytics. Using the MIP dataset, a binary probit model is employed to test the innovation effects of digitalization in micro, small, and medium-sized SMEs. The findings show that the impact of digitalization on innovation activities varies among SMEs and is influenced by the form of digitalization and type of innovation. The study also reveals a moderating effect of internal R&D activities on the innovation effects of digitalization.

Summary: Companies are adopting 'open' search processes for accessing external knowledge. This can be challenging for SMEs due to limited resources. Innovation intermediaries can assist in reducing costs and uncertainty by designing innovation contests tailored to SMEs, as demonstrated in this study. The findings contribute to understanding knowledge search processes, enhancing the role of intermediaries, and defining effective open innovation policies for SMEs.

Summary: The microbial composition and dynamics during the production of light-aroma-type Xiaoqu Baijiu were investigated in this study. The core microbes involved in the production of Xiaoqu Baijiu were identified as Rhizopus, Pichia, Wickerhamomyces, Saccharomyces, Acinetobacter, Lactobacillus, and Weissella. The microbial succession during brewing could be divided into two phases, with Rhizopus and Acinetobacter dominating the early stages and Pichia, Wickerhamomyces, Saccharomyces, and Lactobacillus increasing in abundance during the later stages. The water, amino acid nitrogen, acid, and reducing sugar contents were significantly correlated with the fungal and bacterial communities in grains. Pichia, Rhizopus, Saccharomyces, and Wickerhamomyces played important functional roles in the formation of Xiaoqu Baijiu flavor.

Summary: This study investigated the microbial communities of different TQ with red heart and non-red heart characteristics using high throughput sequencing and culture-dependent methods. Two species of Monascus were isolated, and it was confirmed that the cause of red heart was the growth of Monascus strains. Moreover, Monascus had an inhibitory effect on the growth of Saccharomyces and Aspergillus. This study provides safe, health-beneficial, and superior fermentation strains and strategies for improving the quality of TQ and LATB.
