Summary: This study demonstrates that a new amine derivative EDAB-acac can effectively separate a mixture containing Au(III), Pd(II), and Pt(IV) ions in an acidic medium (HCl) using solvent extraction. The impact of acid concentration and solvent type on separation efficiency was discussed, with high donor number solvents enhancing extraction. A 3-step stripping process for the recovery of Pd(II), Au(III), and Pt(IV) from the mixture was proposed, making it useful for e-waste recycling.

Summary: This study investigated the removal of Cl- from acidic solution using antimony oxides. It was found that Sb2O3·xH2O exhibited the highest adsorption rate, and C-SbA made from Sb2O5·xH2O effectively decreased the residual Sb concentration. The loaded adsorbent can be regenerated by calcining and reused, with Cl- crystallizing and precipitating in the form of NaCl in the regenerated solution.

Summary: This study investigates a series of novel terpene-based reagents as potential molecules for the liquid-liquid extraction of noble metals from chloride solutions. The new extractants, which include a chelator of the bis(& alpha;-amine oxime) type embedded in a monoterpene environment, demonstrate remarkable selectivity in the extraction of Pd(ii) from complex mixtures containing d-block elements. They also show the ability to selectively extract Pd(ii) and Au(iii) from aqueous solutions containing multiple noble metals.

Summary: In this study, acid and alkali catalyzed choline chloride pretreatment of corn stover showed different effects on lignin and xylan removal, with acidified ChCl being more effective in delignification and alkalified ChCl better at removing xylan. However, alkalified ChCl pretreatment resulted in higher glucose yield compared to acidified ChCl pretreatment. The correlation studies indicated that high delignification and larger cellulose crystallite size were key factors contributing to high enzymatic hydrolysis efficiency. Additionally, analysis of extracted lignin showed changes in molecular weight and phenolic hydroxyl groups based on different pretreatment methods.

Summary: Various electrochemical techniques were used to study the corrosion behavior of CNT-reinforced NiAl alloys in NaCl and Na2SO4 environments. The addition of CNT increased the corrosion rate of NiAl in both NaCl and Na2SO4 environments. The corrosion products consisted of Al2O3 in NaCl environment and a porous passive layer was observed on the surface of the alloy specimens in Na2SO4 solution.

Summary: A new ion pair induced mechanism for selectively extracting Li+ from acidic chloride solutions by tributyl phosphate (TBP) is reported in this study. The formed ion-pair complex in the organic phase effectively extracts Li+ from the aqueous phase. The understanding of this ion-pair transport mechanism could help optimize the recovery process for lithium from acidic liquor.

Summary: Separation of catalysts remains a challenge in classical homogeneous catalysis with noble metals. This study utilizes rationally tailored acidic deep eutectic solvents (ADESs) as acid promoters, phase separators, and extractants in Pd-catalyzed methoxycarbonylation of ethylene, achieving high catalytic activity and selectivity, as well as long-term stability towards the desired product. The findings contribute to the development of catalyst recycling and the design of deep eutectic solvents (DESs), with potential industrial applications.

Summary: This paper discusses the scientific rationale for methods of concentrating platinum metals from saturated solutions with high content of macrocomponents. Various sorbents and their conditioning for impurity removal were described. The sorption isotherms and recovery data for platinum and iridium from sulfate-chloride solutions were presented, along with the results of equilibrium constants and Gibbs energy values. The study showed that complete recovery of platinum and iridium was achieved using chelation ion-exchange resin Purolite S985, with Pt recovery up to 95% and Ir more than 73%. The sorption process was confirmed to be accompanied by intradiffusion constraints through kinetic curve analysis.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of bi-component plasticizers on the structure, mechanical properties, dielectric properties, and electric field induced dynamic bending actuation behaviors of plasticized PVC gels. The results show that the interactions between plasticizers and PVC chains in PVC gels greatly influence the bending displacement, and the synergistic and counteractive effects between bi-component plasticizers also play an important role in the bending actuation of PVC gels.

Summary: In this study, a long-chain tripodal amino reagent was used to extract Mo(VI) oxyanions, with the pH playing a crucial role in the extraction efficiency. The changes in pH led to structural transformations of the extracted species, impacting the extraction efficiency. The Mo(VI) extraction sequence did not involve any redox reactions, and a stepwise method for metal recovery from the organic phase was successfully developed based on the experimental results.
