Summary: This study evaluated the effects of extraction methods, plant age, and PCR primers on the characterization of xylem bacterial communities. Different extraction methods and PCR primers resulted in significant biases in describing the bacterial community. The relative importance of dominant bacterial genera varied depending on the primers and extraction methods used.

Summary: This article discusses the noise identification of a system described by a linear time-varying state-space model using correlation methods. It lays stress on the measurement difference method (MDM) as a universal tool for estimating moments and parameters of state and measurement noises. Recent results are summarized in a common framework and a full (and weighted) MDM implementation is developed, which provides unbiased and consistent estimates of arbitrary raw or central moments of the noises. The method's performance is demonstrated in a numerical study.

Summary: In this study, a new field-adapted species identification method was established by combining multiplex multienzyme isothermal rapid amplification (MIRA), lateral flow dipstick (LFD) system, and universal primers. The method was found to be convenient, feasible, and rapid, making it suitable for initial rapid screening at crime scenes.

Summary: The aim of this study was to identify species of free-living animals using total DNA obtained from bone material and analyzing mtDNA fragments using molecular methods and accurate bioinformatics tools. The researchers successfully identified species based on degraded bone samples and short mtDNA fragments. Molecular and bioinformatics methods were used for better barcoding, and partial sequences of the mitochondrial cytochrome b gene were obtained for Capreolus capreolus, Dama dama, and Cervus elaphus. The study also compared the effect of barcodes on species identification using machine learning approaches.

Summary: This paper presents the estimation method and experimental verification of the priming mixture force for primers used in 12.7 mm ammunition. The results show that the estimated force is of the same magnitude as that of black powder, validating the use of black powder characteristics in interior ballistics calculations.

Summary: A method using long amplicon sequencing targeting the rRNA operon provides higher taxonomic resolution for microbial communities, with over 90% accuracy at species level and performance similar to shotgun sequencing in equine fecal samples. However, it may underestimate the compositional percentages of certain bacterial strains, although the overall results are minimally affected.

Summary: This study proposes a metaheuristic-Golden ratio optimization method (GROM-IM) for optimizing the influence maximization (IM) problem. The method incorporates the expected diffusion value function to select the most effective nodes. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the base algorithm in terms of both efficiency and the extent of influence spread.

Summary: This paper proposes a new general framework for estimating and analyzing elliptical mixture models through Riemannian manifold optimization. The relationship between Riemannian manifolds and elliptical distributions is investigated, leading to the proposal of a universal solver based on redesigned cost optimization, which proves the existence of the same optimum as in the original problem.

Summary: Astigmatid mites are economically significant pests causing allergic rhinitis and asthma. Morphological identification of these mites at the species level is challenging. This study developed a multiplex PCR method to identify eight common astigmatid mite species and established a species-specific identification method using specific primers.

Summary: In this study, a Luminex beads-based multiplex assay was developed for the precise identification of the six major bacterial pathogens causing bovine mastitis. The assay demonstrated 100% analytical specificity for simultaneous detection of these bacteria, and the sensitivity was comparable to other real-time PCR multiplex assays. This assay provides a concept proof for a rapid, cost-effective, and high-throughput diagnostic tool for identifying major bacteria causing mastitis.
