Summary: An algorithm based on the Interacting Multiple Model (IMM) estimation strategy is proposed to predict trajectories involving lane-changing, lane-keeping, and turning motion of vehicles. The algorithm uses curvi-linear coordinates and road geometry to predict the trajectory based on prior behavioral maneuvers. It is compared with a Kalman Filter based formulation and machine learning-based strategies for trajectory prediction.

Summary: This paper proposes a method combining adaptive robust unscented Kalman filter and smooth variable structure filter with time-varying smoothing boundary layer (SVSF-VBL) to accurately estimate the state-of-charge (SOC) inconsistency of cells with different performance parameters and working states. The method effectively identifies the parameters of the dual polarization (DP) model and estimates the SOC using unscented Kalman filter. It also estimates the SOC difference between each cell and module using SVSF-VBL based on the Rint model for improving estimation accuracy and robustness.

Summary: SVSF is a new-style filter that is more robust compared to the Kalman filter, while ISVSF combines Bayesian theory to improve estimation accuracy and shows high robustness in dealing with modeling uncertainties and noise. The proposed ISVSF can deliver satisfying performance even in the presence of sudden changes in system state, outperforming existing filters in target tracking simulations.

Summary: This article presents a new algorithm for adaptive explicit nonlinear model predictive control (eNMPC) with applications to fault tolerance. The controller's explicit solution is designed with multiple dynamic models to address plant-model mismatch, with each model weighted by a parameter variable determined by mode probabilities. The developed strategy is validated on attitude maneuvers for a nonlinear spacecraft system, showing that eNMPC benefits from weighted system models and achieves similar levels of tracking error to standard controllers.

Summary: This paper presents a robust architecture design for tracking an unmanned ground vehicle by an unmanned aerial vehicle, including integral sliding mode controller and integral-backstepping solution. Two approaches, Kalman filter and smooth variable structure filter, are used to estimate the relative position between the two agents. Simulation results based on the full non-linear model evaluate the performance and robustness of the proposed tracking architecture.

Summary: The smooth variable structure filter (SVSF) is a type of sliding mode filter formulated in a predictor-corrector format and has seen significant development over the last 15 years. This paper provides a comprehensive review of the SVSF and its variants, investigating the developments, applications, and improvements in terms of robustness and optimality. It also considers the combination of SVSF with different filtering strategies to improve estimation accuracy and maintain robustness to model uncertainty.

Summary: This study investigates the tracking of aircraft using passive sensors with poor measurement precision and a variable update rate. By comparing the Interacting Multiple Model (IMM) and the Variable Structure Interacting Multiple Model (VS-IMM), it is found that the VS-IMM performs the best in areas of both high and low measurement precision.

Summary: Recently, there has been significant interest in using microwave radars for noninvasive and noncontact human respiration detection. Previous research mainly focused on stationary or randomly moving subjects. However, there have been few studies on detecting subjects in large-scale body movement. This article presents a tracking-aided method that combines the Kalman filter-based tracking method with a range-spread human subject model to detect subjects moving across multiple range bins. Experimental results validate the accuracy of the range-spread model and the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Summary: DC networks are increasingly popular, but detecting and locating high-impedance series arc faults remains a major challenge. A Kalman filter-based algorithm is introduced in this article to monitor DC microgrid operation by estimating line admittances and detecting/localizing series arc faults. The algorithm uses voltage and current samples to estimate line admittances, isolate faulted sections, and reconfigure the network quickly after a fault. Simulation and control hardware-in-the-loop results demonstrate the feasibility of implementation.
