Summary: This paper investigates the performance of cognitive radio spectrum sensing over millimetre band communication channel employing various diversity reception techniques. Analytic expressions for average detection probability and average area under the receiver operating characteristics for different diversity receptions are derived, and used to examine the detection performance under various fading scenarios and time-bandwidth products. The study quantifies the impact of fading on detection performance and provides insights for cognitive radio deployments.

Summary: This paper examines the detection challenges faced by cognitive radio networks in scenarios where the position of secondary user nodes changes rapidly, leading to significant large-scale fading. A composite fading model is proposed to analyze the combined effects of small-scale fading characterized as FTR distributed and large-scale fading characterized as inverse gamma distributed. New statistical results are derived and investigated for single user detection probability, multi-user detection probability, and average area under the receiver operating characteristic for energy detection-based spectrum sensing. The study quantifies the deterioration in detection performance due to large-scale fading and the performance benefits of cooperative spectrum sensing under different scenarios with Monte-Carlo simulations verifying the derived expressions.

Summary: In this paper, the problem of channel estimation in a multi-user massive MIMO secondary network is investigated. The aim is for the secondary network to access the licensed spectrum of a multi-user massive MIMO primary network using the underlay spectrum sharing approach. Channels of both the primary users and secondary users are estimated at the secondary base station using a learning phase, with a focus on mitigating pilot contamination at the primary network. The proposed technique allows the secondary network to control interference at the primary network, but slightly degrades the quality of the secondary users' channel estimates at the secondary base station.

Summary: This study investigates the performance of various diversity combining schemes in Internet of Things- Cognitive Radios (IOT-CR) system under the influence of co-channel interference limited environment. The authors derived an approximate expression for the probability density function (PDF) of the maximum signal to interference ratio (SIR) at the receiver. By utilizing the derived PDF, closed loop expressions for Average post processing SIR, Ergodic capacity, and Average bit error rate (ABER) were obtained. The proposed CR system was analyzed under the impact of Peak transmit power (PTP) and Peak interference power (PIP) constraints, and the results show that the Optimum combining (OC) at the receiver outperforms the traditional combining schemes in co-channel interference (CCI) scenario.

Summary: This paper investigates the behavior of an underlay cognitive communication system with a secondary two-way amplify-and-forward relaying network, taking into account the interference of the primary network on the secondary network's receivers. By deriving the CDF and MGF of the secondary network's SINR, the error probability of the secondary network is calculated and validated through numerical and simulation results.

Summary: This article investigates the performance of spectrum sharing in underlay CR-inspired NOMA systems. The outage probabilities and ergodic capacities are derived and the effects of imperfect SIC and cochannel interference are studied. The results show the degradation effects of imperfect SIC on the outage probability and ergodic capacity of the secondary transmitter. The simulation also demonstrates the better sum ergodic capacity of the proposed NOMA scheme compared with two reference schemes.

Summary: This article investigates the detrimental effects of multipath fading and multi-hop/keyhole propagation of millimetre-wave on the effective rate and detection performance. Mathematical expressions for performance metrics in single and multi-antennae receiver-based systems have been derived, showing a considerable degradation in ER and ADP as channel cascading effect increases. Monte-Carlo simulations validate the numerical accuracy of theoretically derived expressions.
