Summary: Multidimensional scaling (MDS) is a commonly used method to reduce the dimensionality of multidimensional data nonlinearly and present it visually. Geometric MDS, a recent development, considers stress functions and multidimensional scaling from a geometric point of view, and has the advantage of decreasing MDS stress by moving coordinates of projected points to new positions defined analytically for individual points.

Summary: To solve poverty issues, it is important to assess the severity of the problem. The Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) is commonly used to measure the degree of poverty in a given area. We propose a framework to infer causal relations among binary variables in poverty surveys.

Summary: The article points out that similar OLAP queries are repeatedly composed from scratch within the same organization to meet similar information needs; across different organizations and domains, OLAP queries with similar structures are also repeatedly constructed. Therefore, vague requirements for frequently constructed OLAP queries in the early stages of a project may lead to rushed development in later stages, which can be alleviated by following best practices for OLAP query construction.

Summary: Population structure can be revealed using Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs). Principal Component Analysis (PCA) has been widely used for visualizing SNP data, but other dimensionality reduction methods may be more successful. However, these techniques often struggle with preserving the global structure in SNP data or have high computational cost. In this study, a method called Multidimensional Scaling (MDS) of smoothed PCA-transformed data (MSSPD) is proposed, which successfully reveals population structures in 2D maps and is computationally efficient compared to other methods.

Summary: Varietal studies of sedimentary provenance involve analyzing the properties of minerals or mineral groups. Multidimensional Scaling (MDS) can be used to analyze this type of data and treat it equally with other provenance proxies. The paper introduces three methods to measure the dissimilarity between samples in order to apply MDS to varietal data.

Summary: This paper proposes a data clustering method called WOATS, which combines Whale Optimization Algorithm (WOA) with Tabu Search (TS). WOATS uses an objective function inspired by partitional clustering to maintain the quality of clustering solutions. Experimental results show that WOATS outperforms other recent SI methods on different datasets, demonstrating its efficiency.

Summary: Assessment is the process of comparing the actual to the expected behavior of a business phenomenon and judging the outcome of the comparison. The ${\sf assess}$ querying operator has been proposed to support assessment based on a query on a data cube. This paper focuses on improving user experience by suggesting suitable completions for partially-specified assess statements. Two interaction modes, progressive refinement and auto-completion, are proposed and evaluated for scalability and user experience through experiments with real users.

Summary: Social media platforms have become a valuable source of information for companies, and building high-quality datasets for social business intelligence requires analyzing data quality and developing practical business intelligence solutions. This paper presents a method that uses a multidimensional data model to construct cubes with various quality metrics, allowing for dynamic evaluation of quality indicators. The authors have applied this method to the automotive business and natural disasters management domains, demonstrating that data filtering can be easily performed by ranking posts according to quality metrics.
