Summary: This study aims to identify key aspects of skid resistance and its main textural components, macro and microtexture, in order to assess the effect of seasonal variation and cumulative traffic on long-term skid resistance. The findings show an inverse trend between macrotexture, skid resistance, and cumulative traffic, while also emphasizing the critical role of microtexture in the field. Ultimately, the study highlights the importance of considering both macrotexture and microtexture data in developing models for predicting field skid resistance levels.

Summary: This study reveals that the texture depth of road surfaces in the UK shows a linear increasing trend over time, with transient changes influenced by annual average daily traffic and environmental parameters. The findings provide compelling evidence for the seasonal signal in texture measurements, suggesting that surface processes impact the seasonal variation in skid resistance.

Summary: The paper introduces the concept of Skid Resistance State for highway pavements, stating that the skid resistance characteristics of a pavement can be fully described by a computer simulation model. This concept has significant implications for functional pavement design, friction maintenance management, and harmonizing skid resistance measurements by different devices.

Summary: This paper presents a meaningful analysis of a long-term study of texture data on pavements in the UK. A new data analysis approach is introduced, which allows for the determination of long-term rates of change in road surface macrotexture using TRACS data. The study also reveals the presence of systematic periodicity in the texture data, suggesting an imprinting effect in the early life of the pavement.

Summary: The study found that using mean profile depth (MPD) to evaluate the performance of High Friction Surface Treatment (HFST) is more accurate and reliable than friction test methods, effectively eliminating errors in surface testing and detecting surface distress. Statistical analysis of MPD measurements can effectively identify the effects of influencing factors.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between pavement texture structure and skid resistance performance, and proposed an optimized Bayesian-LightGBM model for more accurate evaluation of skid resistance. The results showed that ten macro-texture features contribute to the evaluation of skid resistance to varying degrees, and OGFC mixture specimens have better skid resistance compared to AC specimens.

Summary: In response to the problems of poor stability and sensitivity to parameter settings of the traditional model, this research constructs a skid resistance evaluation model based on Hyperopt-NGBoost. Non-contact 3D laser scanning equipment is used to obtain surface texture data of asphalt mixture specimens, and BPT is used to test friction data under different conditions. Macrotexture and micro-texture are separated based on a Gaussian filtering algorithm.

Summary: This study evaluates the skid resistance of runways by analyzing the microtexture and macrotexture of the surface. The research shows that aircraft operations have a significant impact on these characteristics. The results indicate that stone mastic asphalt concrete has better macrotexture compared to dense grade asphalt concrete. Aircraft landing operations reduce skid resistance, especially in terms of macrotexture. However, aircraft behavior at high-speed exits affects microtexture more than macrotexture.

Summary: This study used the skid resistance analysis system to investigate the decay characteristics of pavement friction on contaminated roads and the impact of aeolian sand on skid resistance. The results reveal that aeolian sand fills in the macrotexture, weakening the road's skid resistance with adverse long-term effects. It is advised to clean the road surface regularly when the sand reaches 0.625 kg/m(2) to maintain its original skid resistance.

Summary: Providing adequate skid resistance is crucial for road safety. This study developed a statistical model to predict the skid number at a reference speed based on measurements taken at any operation speed between 20 and 60 mph. The results showed a strong correlation between predicted and measured skid numbers, offering a solution for situations where data cannot be collected at the reference speed.
