Summary: This study describes a technique of natural orifice specimen extraction for sigmoid volvulus which was performed successfully on 6 patients. The surgery had no intraoperative complications, with a median postoperative length of stay of 4 days, but there were risks of postoperative small-bowel ileus and recurrence.

Summary: This study aims to assess long-term bowel function after sigmoid resection for diverticular disease and found that bowel dysfunction can occur even with tubular dissection and preservation of the inferior mesenteric artery. Female gender was identified as the only prognostic factor for long-term incontinence, while ASA score was the only preoperative prognostic factor for the presence of major bowel dysfunction at follow-up.

Summary: This study demonstrated the application of surgical neuroanatomic principles in the diagnosis and treatment of deep infiltrative endometriosis involving the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve. A successful resection of an endometriosis nodule infiltrating the nerve, followed by nerve transplantation, led to significant improvement in pain and sensory symptoms in the patient during follow-up.

Summary: This study evaluated TVUS findings in patients who underwent rectosigmoid resection for DIE, finding a high percentage of adhesions and recurrence of posterior DIE. Adenomyosis was observed in 80% of women, indicating its potential link to postoperative symptoms. This suggests that postoperative TVUS can be useful for detecting persistent disease or pelvic adhesions in symptomatic patients.

Summary: This study compared the recurrence rate of endometrioma(s) after cystectomy versus CO2 laser vaporization of the cyst wall. The results showed similar recurrence rates between the two surgical techniques. For women wishing to preserve their reproductive potential, CO2 laser vaporization can be considered as a safe alternative to cystectomy.

Summary: In the field of endometriosis, multiple classification, staging and reporting systems have been developed, but there is currently no international consensus on how to describe the condition. Studies evaluating these systems show that most of them have little to no correlation with patient outcomes. The ENZIAN system has been confirmed valuable for surgical description of deep endometriosis, while the endometriosis fertility index has been validated for its intended purpose related to infertility.
