Summary: This study compared reproductive outcomes in lesbian couples undergoing Reception of Oocytes from Partner (ROPA) versus autologous IVF/ICSI, finding significantly better outcomes with ROPA at first embryo transfer and higher cumulative live birth rates. Adjusted analysis also showed ROPA's superiority in improving reproductive outcomes.

Summary: In lesbian couples, shared motherhood IVF (SMI) and artificial insemination with donor sperm (AID) have similar outcomes in singleton pregnancies, except for a non-significant increase in the rate of preeclampsia/hypertension (PE/HT) in SMI. However, twin pregnancies in SMI have a much higher frequency of PE/HT compared to AID twins.

Summary: This study investigated the population and outcomes of the ROPA method in 18 fertility clinics in Spain from 2011 to 2020. The results showed that the outcomes of the ROPA method are reassuring, with about one-half of the treatment cycles resulting in live births and one-quarter of the cycles having surplus embryos after achieving a live birth. Overall, the neonatal outcomes of the ROPA method are also reassuring.

Summary: Assisted reproductive technology (ART) is an important tool for overcoming infertility, and sperm selection plays a crucial role in the success of ART treatment. Advanced sperm selection methods have been developed to improve ART outcomes and sperm quality/functionality parameters. This systematic review examined the impact of advanced sperm selection methods compared to traditional methods in infertile couples and found that advanced methods led to improved ART outcomes and beneficial effects on sperm quality/functionality parameters.

Summary: The clinical outcomes of the ROPA method and IVF with autologous oocytes were found to be similar, suggesting that the absence of genetic ties between the embryo and the uterus does not impact reproductive treatment outcomes. These findings provide reassuring data regarding the outcomes of the ROPA method.

Summary: The reactions at the outer surface of Co in the Co/Sb2Te3 and Co/GeTe couples at 500°C are caused by Te vaporization of the thermoelectric substrates, which are not fully covered with Co. This phenomenon does not occur in the Ni/Sb2Te3 and Ni/GeTe couples, as well as in the Co/Sb2Te3 and Co/GeTe couples reacted at lower temperatures. The formation of reaction phases on the outer surface of Co can be inhibited by fully covering Co with the thermoelectric substrates and reducing the reaction temperatures.

Summary: A study conducted at two IVF centers in Vietnam found that intracytoplasmic sperm injection did not improve livebirth rates compared to conventional IVF in couples where the male partner had normal sperm count and motility. The results challenge the routine use of ICSI in this population.

Summary: This study aimed to explore Chinese lesbian couples' perspectives on having children through assisted reproductive technology (ART) and its impact on family formation. Analysis of online forum data showed that using the partner's egg for conception was seen as the best way to establish a family, as it created a sense of connectedness with the child. The study also highlighted the importance of having children for maintaining family harmony, despite opposition to heterosexual family traditions. Reproductive tourism posed challenges for certain groups of lesbians, who may have limited social and cultural capital. Healthcare providers should address the unique concerns and challenges faced by lesbian populations to enhance fertility care.

Summary: The study found that 83.2% of couples undergoing non-medical PGD for male sex selection had a higher ratio of female embryos compared to male embryos. There was no significant difference in patient-related factors between equal and unequal embryonic groups. Patients with positive pregnancy outcomes and those treated with a short protocol were more likely to have an unequal embryonic ratio.

Summary: This study aimed to develop an IVF prediction model to estimate individualized chances of a live birth over multiple complete cycles of IVF in couples embarking on their second complete cycle of treatment. The model showed moderate discriminative ability and evidence of overprediction, but after recalibration, the fit was much improved. Key predictors of live birth were identified, such as female age, number of eggs retrieved in the first complete cycle, and the outcome of the first complete cycle.

Summary: The study found that women in infertile couples experience higher levels of overall stress compared to men, with women also scoring higher on desired family adaptability, cohesion dissatisfaction, and adaptive dissatisfaction. Men and women living in rural areas with lower education levels had higher infertility-related stress, with family cohesion and education level negatively correlated with stress in men, and family adaptability and education level negatively correlated with stress in women. Healthcare providers should pay more attention to and support infertile couples living in rural areas or with low education levels, and focus on the importance of family function and support in reducing infertility-related stress.

Summary: The study found a low dropout rate between the first and second IVF cycles in the controlled population from New Zealand, with 10% of couples discontinuing treatment due to stress. The cumulative live birth rate in this low dropout population was 59% at the end of treatment, varying based on female age.

Summary: There is little research on lesbian couples' experiences with fertility treatment in counseling literature. However, as more lesbian couples are exploring fertility options to expand their families, it is important to understand their experiences during this stressful process. This study used Moustakas' Imaginative Variation method to investigate the experiences of seven lesbian couples. The results revealed feelings of isolation, psychological and physical stress. Despite the challenges associated with assisted reproductive technology, the participants' experiences also highlighted strong relationship factors, including connectedness, mutuality, and resilience. The use of Relational Cultural Theory could be beneficial for lesbian couples seeking to expand their families through reproductive methods.
