Summary: The study confirmed that Zn pretreatment significantly improves Hg-induced cytotoxicity, mainly by enhancing cell viability, reducing cell membrane damage, decreasing DNA damage, replenishing glutathione levels, lowering ROS production, and reducing apoptotic cells. Furthermore, Zn pretreatment can activate the Nrf2-HO1 pathway, thereby suppressing cell apoptosis.

Summary: This study measured the differential expression of antioxidant enzymes in response to radiation-induced oxidative stress after administration of C. borivilianum root extract. The results indicate a significant increase in glutathione levels and the activity of glutathione-related antioxidant enzymes in mice treated with CRE and CRE-AgNPs. The activity of catalase and superoxide dismutase was also increased in the CRE-AgNPs pretreated irradiated groups.

Summary: Obesity is a serious public health challenge that is closely linked to oxidative stress and metabolic disorders. This study analyzed serum samples from children with obesity and found abnormal levels of oxidative stress markers, which were positively correlated with obesity-related indices. Age was also found to be associated with oxidative stress.

Summary: This study found that diet supplementation with Pinnularia borealis could lower cholesterol and triacylglycerol concentrations in the liver and kidneys of mice, indicating the protective properties of algae. Additionally, even a low concentration of Pinnularia borealis was sufficient to improve antioxidant capacity.

Summary: This study compared the changes in oxidative stress and GSH-related antioxidant capacities before and after tumor resection in HCC patients, showing a decrease in plasma malondialdehyde level and varying increases in GSH and related enzyme activities. The findings suggest a potential therapeutic use of GPx or GR as targets for reducing HCC recurrence.

Summary: This study presents a mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) approach for mapping thiol compounds on brain tissue sections. The developed method allows for selective and rapid detection of glutathione (GSH) synthesis and metabolic pathway related metabolites. The method also enables quantitative detection of exogenous N-acetylcysteine tissue sections, with a detection limit of 0.05 ng. The capabilities of the method are demonstrated through mapping thiol compounds on brain tissue from a chronic social defeat stress (CSDS) depression model mice.

Summary: Environmental pollution by metals can affect wildlife health. Some metals have an impact on the neuroendocrine stress response and can cause oxidative stress. This study investigates the association between metals and neuroendocrine stress activity, as well as biomarkers of oxidative stress in captive female Morelet's crocodiles.

Summary: The study found that pH, Ca2+, Mg2+, and anionic phospholipids can influence the reduction of cytochrome c by glutathione, and mitochondrial oxygen consumption is also affected. Glutathione can increase mitochondrial oxygen consumption under specific conditions, and decreased levels of glutathione are associated with apoptosis.

Summary: The aim of this study was to investigate whether trigger films (TFs) can be used as an innovative and interesting tool to teach professionalism and ethics to undergraduate medical and nursing students, and whether this results in any changes in knowledge. The majority of students found TFs to be an interesting teaching tool and there was an improvement in knowledge of autonomy, beneficence, nonmaleficence, and justice. Therefore, TFs can be an effective tool to impart ethics and professionalism to both nursing and medical students.
