ManiWare: An Easy-to-Use Middleware for Cooperative Manipulator Teams

Summary: A compound called COE2-2hexyl has been identified as a synthetic antimicrobial with broad-spectrum antibacterial activity. It effectively cured mice infected with multi-drug resistant bacteria and did not induce bacterial resistance. The ease of molecular design, synthesis, and modular nature of COEs offer advantages over conventional antimicrobials, and these features enable the construction of a range of compounds with the potential to address a global health crisis.

Increasing familiarity with the heartbeat counting task does not affect performance

Summary: This study observed the performance changes in the heartbeat counting task and the visual counting task, and compared the performance between the two tasks. The results showed that the performance in the heartbeat counting task remained stable across repetitions, while the performance in the visual counting task decreased over time. There was a positive correlation between the performance in the two tasks. These findings raise questions about the interpretation of the heartbeat counting task as a measure of interoception.

Summary: The aim of this in vitro study was to evaluate the interaction between ciprofloxacin and amoxicillin against beta-lactamase-producing Staphylococcus aureus. Different ratios of the ciprofloxacin-amoxicillin combination were assessed, and the results showed synergistic, additive, or antagonistic antimicrobial effects. The data mainly support antimicrobial additive results of the ciprofloxacin-amoxicillin combination against beta-lactamase-producing S. aureus.

Mechanical profile of human keratinocytes expressing HPV-18 oncogenes

Summary: During tumorigenesis, the mechanical properties of cancer cells change, with decreased stiffness often accompanying a more invasive phenotype. A recent study used atomic force microscopy to measure cell stiffness and observed a decrease in Young's modulus and cell rigidity in the pre-tumoral cell model of cervical cancer. This study suggests that decreased stiffness and perturbation in cell shape are early mechanical and morphological changes during malignant transformation.

Stafne's bone defect: a systematic review

Summary: This systematic review examined the clinical, imaging, and histopathological characteristics of Stafne's bone defect (SBD). The findings showed that SBD is more prevalent in male patients in their fifth and sixth decade of life. Radiographically, SBD is characterized as a single, unilocular, and well-defined lesion in the posterior region of the jaw with a radiolucent/hypodense appearance.
