Summary: Objective of this study was to assess the outcomes of acetabular open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) in elderly patients, investigate factors influencing the outcomes, and compare the outcomes after low-energy and high-energy mechanisms of injury. The results showed that the grade of reduction was the most significant factor associated with outcome post-ORIF. Female sex, pre-existing osteoporosis, low-energy trauma, and Matta grade were associated with poor outcome. Joint survivorship was lower after low-energy trauma.

Summary: This study investigated the stabilizing benefits of adding cerclage wiring to intramedullary nailing in the treatment of distal tibia fractures. Biomechanical testing showed that the addition of cerclage wiring significantly reduced shear and torsional movements, allowing for immediate weight-bearing.

Summary: This study evaluated the functional and radiological outcomes of cephalomedullary nailing with and without auxiliary cable cerclages in trochanteric and subtrochanteric femoral fractures. The use of auxiliary cerclages was associated with a higher fracture healing rate and better long-term functional outcomes.

Summary: This study evaluated the outcome of a modified technique (cerclage-wire-augmented SVW) for treating comminuted inferior patellar pole fractures. The results showed that patients treated with this technique had good range of motion, excellent clinical scores, and no complications such as loss of reduction.

Summary: Fracture of the pelvis usually occurs in young men and is caused by high-energy trauma. This study aimed to assess the long-term treatment results in 31 patients. The quality of reconstruction of the loaded surface and the duration after surgery were found to be essential for the patients' functional state.

Summary: This study compares the clinical outcomes between cerclage wiring fixation and non-cerclage wiring fixation in Vancouver B fractures. The results show that the use of cerclage wiring does not impact bony union in these fractures, and increasing age and female gender are associated with increased union rates.

Summary: This study retrospectively examined 35 patients with proximal humeral fractures who were treated with double plating between 2013 and 2019. The study showed that double plating can achieve good radiological and functional outcomes for highly complex proximal humeral fractures, with a comparable complication rate to the literature.

Summary: The study aimed to define the annual incidence of periprosthetic fractures in the United States by analyzing inpatient admission data from 2006 to 2015. The findings showed that the annual incidence remained relatively stable throughout the study period, with an increase in revision THA and a decrease in ORIF procedures for managing periprosthetic fractures.

Summary: The purpose of this study was to identify risk factors for skin necrosis after open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) for tibia fracture and construct a predictive model. Through retrospective analysis of clinical data, limb swelling, time until the operation, operation time, distance from fracture end to the skin, and soft tissue injury (Tscherne classification type 3) were found to be independent risk factors for skin necrosis. The nomogram model developed in this study may help identify high-risk patients and reduce the incidence of skin necrosis through early interventions.

Summary: This study found that periprosthetic femoral fractures (PFFs) with stem fixation primarily cemented were more likely to have transverse or short oblique patterns, while PFFs with cementless stem fixation were more likely to have spiral fractures. Patients with PFFs around cemented stems had higher rates of stem subsidence and reoperation related to complications compared to patients with PFFs around cementless stems.
