Summary: This study conducted a two-stage meta-analysis using reconstructed individual patient data to compare long-term mortality between coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for patients with multivessel disease (MVD) without left main (LM) involvement. The results showed that CABG had a lower cumulative all-cause mortality compared to PCI for MVD patients without LM involvement. However, in patients with moderate to high SYNTAX score, PCI had a significantly higher 10-year all-cause mortality compared to CABG.

Summary: The study compared the outcomes of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with drug-eluting stents and coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) for left main coronary artery disease. Results showed that PCI and CABG did not have significant differences in early or 5-year mortality, but exhibited varying rates of stroke, myocardial infarction, and repeat revascularization.

Summary: This study compares the hemorheological and inflammatory changes before and after coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery and finds that hyperviscosity persists for almost one week after the surgery. Inflammatory markers are also correlated with hemorheological changes. Understanding the interplay between inflammation and hemorheological properties is crucial for patient care.

Summary: The study evaluated the use of the EFT in patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting procedures. It was found that the EFT could predict patient survival and had a significant impact on the survival rates. After adjustment, each incremental EFT point was associated with a higher risk of mortality.

Summary: This study evaluated the risk factors of perioperative and long-term cardiovascular events in patients undergoing CABG with adjunctive CE. The plaque length-max, as well as interleukin-6, CD68, and osteopontin, were found to be significantly correlated with the occurrence of perioperative myocardial infarction.

Summary: This study compared the change in the rate of memory decline after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) vs percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in older adults and found that the type of revascularization procedure was not significantly associated with differences in the change of rate of memory decline. This has important implications for the choice of revascularization procedure and cognitive function protection in older adults.

Summary: This study reports the characteristics of arterial graft stenoses and evaluates the feasibility of radial artery percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). The results show that patients undergoing radial artery PCI had earlier presentation, less frequent acute coronary syndrome, and more common intervention at the ostial or distal anastomosis compared with saphenous vein graft PCI. Patients undergoing radial artery PCI were more likely to have diabetes, peripheral vascular disease, and non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction compared with those undergoing native PCI.

Summary: This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of PCI and CABG in patients with LMCS in terms of MACE occurrence. The results showed that for patients with LMCS, PCI with drug-eluting stents was as effective as CABG in terms of clinical death, myocardial infarction, repeat revascularization, and stroke at 1 year.

Summary: By comparing the clinical outcomes of PCI in native coronary artery and bypass graft, this study found that native coronary artery might be preferred for PCI in patients with prior CABG due to lower rates of slow-flow/no-reflow, peri-procedural stroke, and non-fatal MI at follow-up.

Summary: Comparison of referral patterns and outcomes between two centers in the same jurisdiction showed that more patients in Center A underwent PCI and fewer underwent CABG compared to Center B, even among patients with TVD. Regression analysis showed that Center B had a protective effect on mortality for TVD patients and those undergoing PCI, but not for CABG. Center A had increased 1-year mortality for all patients and those with TVD. The differences in outcomes can be attributed to contrasting referral practices and the discrepant rates of PCI and CABG between the centers.

Summary: This study aims to evaluate whether an eHealth program can reduce unplanned health care utilization and improve mental and physical health in the first 6 weeks after coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery. The results show that the use of an eHealth strategy comprising educational videos and video consultations can reduce unplanned health care utilization and aid in faster patient-reported recovery in patients following CABG surgery.

Summary: This study investigated the construct of psychosocial adjustment and the role of social support in patients with durable VAD support. The results showed that the majority of the participants reported high levels of perceived social support and good psychosocial adjustment. Higher levels of perceived social support were associated with lower levels of anxiety and depression, and higher levels of quality of life.

Summary: This study investigated the components of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) reflected in the assessment instruments used in cardiac rehabilitation for individuals with heart failure (HF). The results showed that body function was the most frequently detected component, but none of the instruments covered all aspects of the ICF. The Minnesota Living with Heart Failure Questionnaire (MLHFQ) demonstrated the most comprehensive coverage of ICF components.

Summary: Fluticasone propionate and salmeterol (FSC) are viable options for step-up treatment in asthmatic children, as they can reduce the incidence of asthma exacerbations and improve lung function. FSC treatment for more than 12 weeks shows a greater likelihood of reducing asthma exacerbations and decreasing the use of albuterol. There were no significant differences in drug-related adverse events between FSC and fluticasone propionate (FP) alone.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the effects of family intervention on the incidence of postoperative delirium (POD) and ICU prognoses of patients undergoing cardiac valve surgery. The results showed that family intervention could reduce the incidence of POD, shorten ICU stays, reduce the incidence of anxiety and depression in family caregivers, and improve their satisfaction. Therefore, family intervention is of significant importance for patients undergoing cardiac valve surgery.
