This was the main paper from my PhD and was rejected by the editor-in-chief right off the bat. What does "does not meet the scientific level of the journal" even mean???
Plot twist: the manuscript had great insights on the theme and, after this ludicrous rejection, was submitted to a journal with the same JCR range. It has had over 30 citations since 2019, being among the top 20% most cited papers of the area (construction materials).
