Poster summary

The disposal of grey water into environment leads to dissolved oxygen depletion and bacterial growth. This study aimed to develop CaCO3 nanoparticles by homogenization and precipitation process . The synthesized nanoparticles were utilized in the batch treatment of grey water by varying the contact time, solution pH, agitation speed, and nanoparticle dosage. The effectiveness of the treatment was assessed by measuring the Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), Dissolved Oxygen (DO), and turbidity. The best results are pH 8.0, 100 rpm agitation speed, 60 minutes contact time, and 0.7 g of nanoparticles. This novel research aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6 (Clean water and sanitation) and oman vision 2040. This community engagement project is cost effective, eco-friendly and the particles can be used as additive in concrete mix to strengthen the materials thereby contributing to a cleaner environment.
