Poster summary
- This work aims to develop NIRS -based prediction method as a speedy alternative for measuring quality traits, otherwise assessed using chemical methods that are often time-consuming, labor-intensive, and dangerous to health. The statistical results obtained demonstrated the efficacy of the newly developed NIRS model for accurately predicting the oil, core fatty acids, and tocopherol (α-, γ-, total) contents in Brassica oilseeds. Correlation coefficients (RSQ) of the external validations appeared greater than 0.7 for the majority of traits, such as oil (0.7), eicosenoic acid (0.716), erucic (0.870), α-tocopherol (0.796), γ-tocopherol (0.975) and total tocopherol (0.946) for B. juncea. The outcomes of the study will assist in precise screening and selection for superior quality lines in Brassica breeding programs.
