Poster summary

A new method for producing biofuels and biobased compounds from lignocellulosic biomass has been proposed. The Alkanolamine-Fenton (AAF) process is a cost-effective and energy-efficient method that improves the yield of targeted compounds, such as levoglucosan, by eliminating alkali and alkaline earth metals during Fenton treatment. This process also creates short-chain cellulose and recovers lignin, which is mostly composed of guaiacyl groups. Pyrolysis experiments show that an increase in H2O2 concentration in the Fenton process leads to a rise in methyl and ethyl groups and a drop in phenolic compounds containing methyl groups. The AAF process presents an efficient and resilient pretreatment method for biomass processing.
