Poster summary

Lectins are PRRs that binds to PAMPs and participate in the innate immunity of the host. We identified and characterized novel lectins from the freshwater prawn, Macrobrachium rosenbergii such as MrCTL and Mr(T)Lec-4 showing C-type lectin domain and MrERGIC-53 showing L-type lectin domain. MrCTL, Mr(T)Lec-4, and MrERGIC-53 encoded polypeptides of 217, 330, and 504 amino acids, respectively. While Mr(T)Lec-4 mRNA upregulated 6h in the hepatopancreas post-infection with Vibrio harveyi, MrCTL and MrERGIC-53 mRNA showed upregulation in stomach and intestine following M. rosenbergii nodavirus (MrNV) challenge. This demonstrates that the novel lectins putatively participate in the innate immunity of the host.
