The first time submitting to SPE, overall the experience was good. Compared to another domestic journal in the same period that has not even returned the first review, it is already quite good. It is equivalent to accepting major and minor revisions. The major revision was given six months, and it took 30 pages to revise and send back. The journal is quite serious, and the specific timeline is as follows:

I'm not quite sure about the first-time submission. Can I ask everyone how long it usually takes to see the publication after acceptance by SPE?

Returned with major revisions on December 20, 2022. Two reviewers provided a total of 34 comments, but none of them questioned the feasibility of my methodology. The issues raised did not involve the core content of the article.
Returned with major revisions on January 16, 2023.
Returned with minor revisions on February 13, 2023. Mostly minor errors in the article, such as incorrect words and inconsistent titles.
Returned with minor revisions on February 18, 2023.
Accepted on February 27, 2023.
The entire process took three months.

My evaluation is that the reviewers were diligent and responsible. They even noticed that I had written cosine as sine in my derived trigonometric formula. They essentially repeated my derivation process and provided direct suggestions for improvement in their subsequent comments. Following their suggestions was sufficient.

Our teacher was particularly happy after the initial submission, saying that it was accepted by a top journal in the petroleum field. Although I couldn't figure out why it was considered a top journal, haha!

Posted on October 1st, two months later, received major revisions. The major revisions included a reply of nearly 30 pages. After more than a month, it was directly accepted for publication.

The first article is for SPE Journal.

It is puzzling that the prestigious journal is ranked as a Q3 by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and is not considered a top journal in the petroleum industry.

It took three and a half months, and the review speed was acceptable. The suggestions made by the two Technical Editors were very professional and greatly helped improve the article. I almost gave up when I saw the comments during the first major revision, but I made many changes with a mindset of giving it a try. There were some modifications made during the second minor revision. Finally, the article was accepted after the third submission.

Submitted on July 19, 2021. Major revision on August 16, 2021. Revised again on September 17, 2021. Minor revision on October 6, 2021. Revised again on October 15, 2021. Accepted on October 3, 2021.

Posted on 2021.4.4, with technical editor scores. This status is under review. On 4.18, the status changed to waiting AE recommendation. It made me feel like it was a prelude to rejection because the external review time was too short. On 4.24, the status changed to Waiting EE decision, which made me think it would be rejected. On the evening of 4.26, I received an email with around 15 questions from three reviewers, requesting major revisions and giving me one month to make the changes.
