I am also an AFM student. I have received a minor repair, a major repair, and a rejection (given that I am in the top 30%). However, the editor rejected it, and I have not received a response to my appeal for more than ten days. So I provided some constructive feedback, and then it was transferred to a smaller publication. It was accepted without being sent for external review.

Before this, the manuscript was rejected with one positive and one negative review after being sent to AFM for review. After appealing, there was no news for one month, so it was decided to submit it to Small on their own.

Editor Lisa Smith was very nice and after receiving the manuscript, she found out that the appeal was still ongoing at AFM. She helped us inquire and confirm the denial, and suggested that we directly email the revised version of the previous draft to her. The time for returning the revised version is flexible and has no specific deadline.

It was a very difficult piece of work. Wishing Small the best!
