MDPI's, also suspecting if it is predatory????

chifan 2023-08-01

Is MDPI still in doubt about whether it is predatory?

Recently, a special issue on the design and application of functional electrocatalysts, titled "Design and Application of Functional Electrocatalysts," was organized by Molecules. You can find more information about this special issue at https://www.mdpi.com/journal/molecules/special_issues/JW0LWD3HHT. Please feel free to contact us for submission.

Accepted: 10 July 2023
Published: 12 July 2023

Also, as a guest editor, I have organized a special issue titled "Protein Design and Protein Engineering" (https://www.mdpi.com/journal/molecules/special_issues/GOHQG89697). Students in need are welcome to submit their contributions!

Fast review speed, faster publication after acceptance. Recently, a special issue on transition metal catalysis was organized in the Molecules journal. Contributions are welcome. After contacting the guest editor, discounts of varying degrees can be given based on the quality of the manuscript. The editor is very efficient and productive. It took 18 days to provide feedback on the major revisions. After the major revisions were returned, it took 3 days to notify about the minor revisions. The minor revisions were accepted on the following day. In total, it took 35 days from start to finish.

The invitation given at the end of last year provided discounts!
This year, submissions completed within the specified time were informed that there are no more discounts!
They demanded full payment, so I withdrew my submission!
This must be what they call a "predatory journal"!

I have been waiting for about 40 days, and still haven't received any news. Can I urge the editor?

Xxn3366 2023-04-12

My under review has been for over a month now. Will there be any results in the future?

刘李东 2023-04-02

A total of 37 days have passed, hoping that Molecules will continue to improve!

大木Taiboku 2023-04-02

Research 1, not very good at doing research, major revision, only given 10 days which was very tight. I used an English editor recommended by the journal, and after adding content, the article became 4000 words long. The English editor only charged 2000 yuan, which is too cheap! The key is that I submitted it at night and it was returned at midnight, so fast! But I feel like it was proofread by a robot, 99% sure. It took a total of 37 days from start to acceptance, and this year it made it to the second-tier journal. I hope I can aim for the top-tier journal when I graduate, haha, dreaming big. Then I will also be a big shot.

taocicailiao 2023-03-27

How can I apply for exemption? Thank you.

Super fast! Because I was in a hurry to graduate, I chose this journal and I have to say it's really fast. The reviewers' comments were also very sharp and helpful for my article. I applied for a waiver, so I didn't have to spend any money. Haha, I'm happy.

Submitted on February 25th, received major revisions on March 7th with a ten-day deadline. Accepted on March 24th and published on March 26th. Very satisfied! One step closer to graduation!

The speed is really fast. The first round of review took a bit longer, about two weeks, but the subsequent processing was incredibly fast. The reviewer's comments were quite harsh. One reviewer gave me 35 suggestions, which made the students cry and resulted in several dozen pages of response. The only problem was that the time given to reply to the suggestions was too short. The reviewer asked for additional experiments, but the editor only gave us seven days.

Submitted in October 21, accepted in January 22. At the time of submission, it was still in Zone 3. There were two major revisions during the process, each reviewed by five expert reviewers who were very professional and posed sharp questions. It was also my first English article, and the process was challenging but the outcome turned out to be great. Now, I am thrilled to have suddenly become a top article in Zone 2. I am very happy and grateful to everyone who helped me.

Very fast speed. I hope we don't drop back to District 3 this year.

It took a total of 19 days. This year, the paper was promoted to a top-tier journal. The review process was quite fast, and the editors were also very careful. There were two reviewers in total. One suggested some minor changes and directly accepted the paper, while the other suggested some adjustments in grammar. After the revisions were made, the paper was accepted directly, and then the academic editor carefully and meticulously edited the grammar of the article (without any additional charges). Three days later, it was published online.

From submission to final publication took less than a month, the speed of manuscript handling was excellent. Recently, I was invited to be a guest editor for an organized special issue titled "Photocatalytic Materials and Photocatalytic Reactions".
https://www.mdpi.com/journal/molecules/special_issues/87U2U4T532
Although the article processing charge (APC) is 2700 CHF (perhaps due to being in the second quartile top), after negotiation, it has been discounted to 2300 CHF. We welcome everyone to submit their articles. Any photocatalysis-related topics are accepted, without limitation on materials and reactions.

The speed is still fast as always, and the level of the reviewers and the speed of feedback are also quite efficient. Looking forward to this journal becoming even better!

First submission to SCI, wrote it very seriously, with beautiful data and graphics. The paper was revised under the guidance of a postdoctoral fellow in a 985 research group. Because I urgently needed a paper, I randomly chose a journal with high publication volume and fast review speed to submit to. My supervisor gave me freedom to choose, so I selected "Molecules". The review process only took a few days, and the reviewers all suggested direct acceptance. I think I wrote it well, and it might be because my boss is the corresponding author (well-known in the industry). However, my supervisor was not satisfied and said that the journal is low-quality. He said I should have submitted to a top-tier journal in the first or second zone of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He advised against submitting to "Shenbo" (a local journal), and even though it has been promoted to a higher zone this year, my doctoral supervisor said it is still low-quality and publishing in such a journal does not count for graduation. The only advantage is that it is an open access journal, which can increase citation rates. After two months of publication, the paper has already received 5 citations.

Open access journals, no publication fees? Black person question mark... This is really bizarre of you...

呦吼吼 2023-01-14

I don't know about free invitations, but for a 500CHF invitation, you need to send an email to the editor. After the editor confirms it in the system, they will reply to your email, which will make it valid (the email will mention that confirmation from the editor is required for it to be effective). There is no discount for directly submitting an article, so I don't know if you received the email and submitted directly.

I have been promoted to a higher district this year, and I am in the top tier of the new district. Overall, the level has improved. The review process is really fast, and the comments provided are relatively fair. They must have found reviewers who are familiar with the field.
