Analytical chemistry is not an easy field to publish in. Even top journals like JACS and Angewandte Chemie are difficult to get into. Therefore, Analytical Chemistry (AC) is one of the remaining top journals for analytical chemistry, and I hope to publish at least one paper in it during my PhD.

The reputation is really high, but the interest is really low. It feels like studying analytical chemistry is not very cost-effective.

Submitted on 12.5, edited and submitted for review on December 10th, received feedback on January 13th, we took our own time during the Lunar New Year, sent revised manuscript on February 16th. Received second round of revision suggestions on March 17th, submitted revised manuscript on March 23rd, and it was accepted on March 25th. Later, it was sent to my teacher for proofreading, and my teacher completed the proofreading in the morning and it was published in the afternoon, but without page numbers.

December 31st Submission
January 20th Major revision
February 11th Return of revised draft
March 17th Minor revision
March 23rd Return of revised draft
March 30th Acceptance

Although it's been a bit lengthy and the year hasn't been great, it's still worth it.

Thank you ACS, thank you AC, thank you editor, hope AC gets better and better.

December 15th submission
December 20th Editing requires reducing the length and moving relevant content to the Supplementary Information (SI).
January 14th Return
March 2nd Accepted after modifying details and formatting.
March 9th Official acceptance

Originally submitted to ACA, rejected immediately due to not matching the theme. Then tried AC, assigned AE was Professor Boris Mizaikoff from Germany, with similar research points. I thought it would be sent for review when I saw him, but didn't expect it to go so smoothly. The subsequent steps after acceptance were also very efficient!

After submitting, it took about two weeks for it to be in peer review. I was worried that the editor wouldn't send it for review.
Surprisingly, it came back with minor revisions after only five days of review. It was too fast.
Since there was no need for additional experiments and both reviewers had positive comments, we resubmitted within a day.
About three days later, it was accepted directly.

ACS journals may not really focus on impact factors, but rather on the influence of the journal (i.e., publication volume).
As an index journal in the field of analytical chemistry, ACS is definitely the preferred choice for applying to projects when there are no higher-level natural science journals available.

I am too, it has been more than 20 days since I returned.

xihawuchang 2022-03-15

Returned for repairs on February 11th, still no news until now, very worried.

If you haven't received a rejection email, it means your submission has been sent for review. There will be no email notification for the review process.

Excuse me, is there any update on the status now? My article has also been in her hands for a long time.

May I ask if it has been submitted for review?

小小米 2021-12-21

Did AC drop to the second tier? I really can't understand it. In my heart, AC has always been the most influential journal in analytical chemistry. I just submitted an article, and it is currently under major revision. But now I am told that it has dropped to the second tier. I really can't accept it for a moment.

OpticsAnalysis 2021-12-20

Has Jeanne E Pemberton been editing for half a month? Neither advancing nor retreating. What's going on?

Holfans 2021-11-26

Hello, have you experienced the "in peer review" status after submitting the second review? The second review gave me some minor revisions, and it has been five days now, and it is still in peer review.

Analytical Chemistry has always been recognized and appreciated for its influence in the field of analytical chemistry. The review process is relatively fast and there is a certain requirement for the novelty of the articles. Overall, the evaluation is excellent. Hopefully, this can provide some reference suggestions for everyone.

There is no email notification for submission.

hxw417 2021-03-19

Hello, may I ask if there will be further email notification after receiving the assigned editor email? If not, will it display the status as "Submitted to Editorial Office" without notification?

chaolal 2021-03-07

This is my first time commenting, and I really feel that it's unfair. For the first time, I felt that some reviewers were too biased. One reviewer thought it was highly innovative, another suggested major revisions, and the remaining one rejected it without any explanation. Another reviewer clearly seemed inexperienced and provided a bunch of ignorant comments, and then the editor rejected it. I am not satisfied, appealed, but to no avail. Is it that our small research group is so unwelcome? I have nothing more to say.
