The old magazine, with two reviewers, has very professional opinions.

Can you share the entire timeline?

Hello, may I ask how long has it been since the rejection?

math_snow 2023-03-20

Hello, may I ask if there is any news afterwards? Is it faster to be rejected? How is the progress going?

Objectively speaking, JMAA is a relatively well-established journal in the field of analysis mathematics. However, the quality of the papers published in this journal varies, but the readability of papers in the field of functional analysis is quite strong. Moreover, there has been a serious issue of spamming for a period of time. In recent years, there has been an overall improvement in the quality of papers, and it is definitely not true that "solving a simple exercise can lead to publication" or that "publishing one paper is an insult to one's academic career," as some people claim. Therefore, for intermediate results or those that are not particularly perfect, it is worth considering submitting to this journal, as the cost-effectiveness is still acceptable.

Can't even write Chinese characters correctly, and still claiming to be the top expert in Chinese Pedagogical (Language) Development? Ridiculous to the extreme.

It is normal to wait for a month, just wait slowly.

XL最靓 2022-10-28

How long has everyone been with the editor? My with editor has been for 20 days already, and it feels a bit slow.

If you don't say "recognizably good journal" in this sentence, perhaps 29 people won't criticize you, and 0 people will praise you.

I hope to be hired next time~

Well-recognized journal, being able to have one article published is very lucky.

Did you win the lottery by yourself and then criticize the magazine? Are you really okay with embarrassing yourself? To be honest, there were indeed comments online saying that the magazine was not good during the period between 2005 and 2015, as there were many Chinese people spamming on it. However, the magazine has since raised its standards and is no longer as bad. Moreover, the categorization of journals is just a reference. Appl. Math. Letters and Appl. Math. Comp, which you say are not good, are still considered top-tier journals.

It has been three months since submission. Recently, the review date has been updated. I don't know if it means the next reviewer will review the paper. Hopefully, luck will be on my side. Let's wait and see.

Posted on November 10th, rejected on November 13th due to lack of interest in the subject area, amazing speed!

May I ask about the result?

Mecca 2021-06-23

Me too. The decision was made in just one week.

mm0815 2021-03-23

One week after submitting, I am already making a decision and feeling a bit worried. ?

This kind of journal is just for undergraduate or graduate students to practice. Can you believe that someone actually praised it as a second-tier journal??? The boss said it's best not to publish it, too embarrassing.

wtao 2021-02-24

I actually got assigned to Zone 2!!! The supervisor said that at most, a master's student can submit one article, and doctoral students are not allowed to submit to such low-level journals. It's like a practice journal for graduate students. I heard that some people even used this journal for evaluating their professional titles or applying for jobs in the top-tier disciplines, which is indeed a joke. Many of the papers published in it are just exercises.

bioer 2021-02-22

This kind of publication generally does not receive submissions from people who are good at mathematics. Many of the works in it are solving exercises, with little innovation.

Recently, I don't recommend investing in the field of probability statistics. This magazine used to have lax review standards and fast publication, but now it seems to have changed. They divide submissions and assign different reviewers. Me, my acquaintances, and the information I know have all had four submissions rejected in the past two years. The first submission was under review for three days and rejected three months later. The second submission was rejected after being with the editor for a week. The third submission was rejected within two weeks. As for my own submission, it was with the editor for three months, under review for another three months, and then rejected after being reviewed for seven to eight months. The rejection reason was even more ridiculous. Altogether, it took over a year, which I had never heard of before for JMAA rejecting manuscripts so slowly. It's not a big deal if finding reviewers is slow, or if the review process is slow, but the crucial part is that after such a long time, the two reviewers didn't provide any feedback...
