Recently, our team submitted another paper. It went through three reviewers and required major revisions. There were 28 modification suggestions, and the main text of the paper was 19 pages long. The response to the modification suggestions was 47 pages long. It took a whole month to make the revisions. After submission, it was accepted in about two weeks without minor revisions. This may be due to the thoroughness of our major revisions.

The current impact factor of the JFR journal is 8.3. It is gradually returning to its former glory. Judging from the number of paper downloads, it is estimated that the impact factor will continue to rise.

This journal prefers: 1) new robotic system platforms with complete introductions; 2) robotic systems with detailed results from field experiments or on-site experiments, with no page limit and no publication fees; 3) preferably, there should also be sections analyzing lessons learned from experience.

Wishing everyone great achievements, successful submissions, and smooth acceptances!

Hello. Can I ask about the experience of submitting contributions?

piggy_one 2023-02-24

Don't touch TRO anymore. It used to be decent, but the quality has dropped significantly since the new editorial board took over in the past two years. It's almost becoming a mediocre academic journal like a certain university's publication. Even top-notch international laboratories are submitting their research papers to the new journal, Field Robotics, founded by the previous editorial board.

Is this called a top-tier journal?

Zach_whu 2023-02-24

Stop talking nonsense. It has been so many years.

Although the quality of articles has declined since the collective resignation of the old editorial board in 2011, it is still the preferred journal for field robotics. As long as the journal adheres to the requirement of conducting field experiments, the quality of the journal will be guaranteed. Submitted on July 20, 2022, revised twice, and accepted on January 31, 2023. It's great to catch the first wave of schools paying for Wiley Open Access, which is very good.

Before, it used to be a top journal in the field of robotics. However, since the previous editorial board collectively resigned, the quality of the articles in this journal has noticeably declined...

Zach_whu 2023-01-28

Top journals all the time? It's just a 2nd-tier journal, not top. Trying to bluff with this, its impact factor is also not high.

Is this top level one that you sealed? It doesn't even have the top label~~

JFR used to be very influential, but ever since the previous group of senior figures in the field of robotics resigned, the new editorial board now consists of nearly half Chinese people, and the proportion of Chinese articles has rapidly increased (lol). The quality of the articles is noticeably lower than before, and the influence has started to decline. It is almost being surpassed by RAL, which is disappointing. Hopefully, the old editorial board's new creation, Field Robotics, will continue to thrive.

During the period from 7.27 to 8.13, there were several back and forth due to the system's inability to recognize the author's name, which wasted some time. Overall, the review process was very fast and the opinions of the two reviewers were very friendly.

Top-tier magazine in the field of robotics, highly recognized by people in the robotics community, on par with IJRR, TRO, and others. Many renowned experts in the field publish their articles in this magazine. Its impact factor was high in previous years but has decreased in the past one or two years, which is puzzling. The magazine has recently changed its editorial board in 2021, and now the review process is very fast. One month after submitting the paper, it was rejected with feedback from four reviewers, which was very fair. Will continue to strive for improvement in the future!
