After submission, there is only one "Days in Folder" and no review status. Is this normal?

Is this the meaning of "contacting potential reviewers" to find reviewers again?

小生桌桌 2023-07-07

I have been submitting my work for 4 months now, but there is still no news. It is still under review. I'm getting really anxious waiting.

After three months of review and major revisions, the comments were quite fair, and the revised version was accepted.

Hello, I would like to ask you some questions. How can I submit the revised manuscript? Do I need to submit a new manuscript?

000100 2022-09-13

The first trial took over three months, and one month after the major renovation was accepted.

It means "Around 10 days later, geniuses will start searching for review experts" in English.

May I ask how long does it usually take for Under Consideration - Editor?

zzuliwanghua 2022-07-25

Faster in non-OA.

Hello, do I need to upload both images and reference files when replying to the feedback? I only uploaded a PDF and it was rejected.

May I ask how long it takes to get results after your decision has started?

May I ask how long it takes to get results after your decision started? It has been almost a month since my decision started, but there has been no change in status.

Average speed. Submitted in early April, major revisions in mid-August, resubmitted in mid-September, and accepted within 4 days, very quickly.

2021.7.21 Submission,
2021.10.4 Notice of major revision,
2021.10.27 Revised,
2021.11.4 Notice of acceptance.
Overall, it was quite fast. There were two reviewers, and their comments were fair. We spent about half a month making revisions, and after the revision meeting, we received acceptance notification in just over a week. It is my first SCI paper, and I am very happy. The attitude of the journal editor was very good, and the process of handling the article was quite smooth.

2021.06.01 Submission
2021.08.03 Request for major revisions
Since my paper is related to geology, it took me a lot of time to find reviewers. The deadline for major revisions is one month.
2021.09.17 Return of major revisions
2021.10.05 Accepted directly.
If it is related to remote sensing applications, this journal is relatively easier. The reviewers are also more professional. Previously, when I submitted to RS, the reviewer rejected it directly, saying it was "too advanced". JARS can provide more specific revision directions, so I recommend it for beginners to practice.

Hello, OP. I submitted my work at the end of March and received the reviewer's comments at the end of September, which stated "Can be made acceptable, dependent on revision." May I ask if this falls under major revision or minor revision?

I'm quite happy that the first SCI paper got accepted. It was submitted on April 9th, and I received the first review result on June 22nd, which required major revisions. Unfortunately, I had to deal with final exams during the revision period, which was really tough. The first review process was relatively slow overall, with two reviewers. One of them started reviewing on April 26th, but the other one wasn't assigned until June 1st, so the first review process was slow. The reviewers didn't have many overall comments, only 8-9 in total. One of the reviewers provided many minor comments, but both reviewers requested additional experiments (which was frustrating). Finally, I submitted the revised manuscript on July 7th, and the second review process took over a month. On August 18th, I received the review comments, and surprisingly, it required major revisions again. It was heartbreaking at that time. Upon reviewing the comments, I realized that this time the comments were not from the reviewers but from the editor. There were about 20 detailed comments in total, showing that the comments were meticulous and professional (as expected from an editor). However, since no additional experiments were required, I was able to complete the revisions quickly, and I submitted the revised version on August 26th. Then, on August 27th, it was accepted. Overall, this journal was not very difficult, but the speed was questionable.

It has been 73 days since the submission. I have sent a reminder once and received one review comment back. Still waiting for another one as they mentioned the delay is due to the overseas pandemic situation. The deadlines for the reviewers have been extended. I don't know when the second review comment will come, so I plan to send another reminder if there is no update before the vacation.

Congratulations on the acceptance! I would like to ask a question. I recently wrote a paper that I want to submit to JARS, but I noticed that the style of the published papers is slightly different from the template provided on the official website. I would like to know if I need to adjust the style details myself, such as the font of the title and the table style. The positioning of the abstract and title is also different. Should I follow the template when initially submitting and make modifications after acceptance? Thank you.

First submission on November 2, 2020. Revised on February 12, 2021 for initial review. At that time, it was almost the end of the semester, and I submitted the manuscript to them just about a month before the deadline. This time it was slower, mainly because it seemed like they had trouble finding reviewers. They spent over a month looking for reviewers, probably due to the low score requirement. The reviewers had high expectations for English proficiency and pointed out more than ten grammar errors in the machine-translated and manually edited manuscript. They suggested that we improve our English proficiency and polish the manuscript (it felt slightly hurtful but highly insulting). The journal recommended the neighboring editing service for proofreading (if we were in a hurry, we could directly contact them). During the review process, one reviewer mainly focused on grammar errors, while the other mainly addressed the experimental part. They were very targeted but had a good attitude and were responsible.

After submission, it took about 20 days for minor revisions (grammar) in the second review. After making the changes, it was submitted on March 11, 2020. Accepted on March 12, 2021.

To put it simply, this article is not difficult. It is the first one, and although our innovation is not outstanding, it does exist. The editor is very responsible, but their submission system is not user-friendly. There were many errors during the submission process, and it took a long time to communicate with the editor. However, the editor's attitude was very good and serious. But the journal's speed is not fast, especially for initial reviews. It is recommended for those who are not in a hurry to try it.

Boss, may I ask how long does it generally take for the second review decision to be made for the Journal of Applied Remote Sensing? I am a bit nervous, and this is my current state. I submitted one month later than you.

hsgsdx 2021-02-21

First submission in mid-October 2020;
Received feedback in early December 2020: both reviewers requested major revisions, with a deadline of nearly one month for the revisions.
Second submission with revisions in early January 2021;
Direct acceptance in mid-January 2021.
Personally, I think this journal, being a non-open access journal, has good efficiency and is quite nice. It requires some innovation, but the expectations are not particularly high. It is a good choice for those who have not been writing SCI for a long time. I also hope that this journal will continue to improve.

The study is about remote sensing image change detection.
Difficulty of acceptance: I personally don't think it is very difficult.
Review process: It follows the normal review process of SCI journals. I had a slower acceptance, and most papers in this journal take about three months to be accepted.
Reviewers: There were two reviewers, and their comments were quite standard. The first reviewer asked in-depth questions and even requested additional experiments until the minor revision, which was quite troublesome. The second reviewer had a humble attitude and agreed directly after the major revision.
Summary: A relatively high level of English proficiency is required. It is an entry-level remote sensing journal. The impact factor of the journal is increasing, and I wish it continued success.
