Reviewer #1: The paper examines the analysis of different beam kinematics by taking into account both surface elasticity and nonlocal Eringen-type models of stress gradient elasticity. The idea of comparing various beam models appears to be reasonable.

Our group focuses on the intersection of solid mechanics and materials. We have submitted to JMPS and EML before, but for this particular journal, we have submitted a total of 9 times from 2018 until now, and all of them have been rejected. Six papers were directly rejected without review, and the remaining three were reviewed by 2-3 reviewers who were quite strict. There cannot be any flaws, and the results were all "lack of novelty". It's frustrating. We don't know what type of articles the editor is looking for. The acceptance rate is extremely low. They receive around 1500-2000 submissions per year but only publish less than 100 papers. It's extremely difficult to get a paper published.

JMPS acceptance rate is 0.25, IJSS acceptance rate is 0.24, PRL acceptance rate is 0.2, this journal's acceptance rate is 0.05, even more difficult than NC, double-blind peer review, 4 reviewers, extremely challenging, all top experts, the questions are also very tricky, review process takes six months, rejected after major revisions twice, it's too difficult. I submitted my work in September last year, but there was no response in between. In March this year, I received a rejection without even undergoing the review process. It took a whole six months, and I have no idea what happened during that time.
