The journal started open access from Volume 15, so the process might be faster. I am very lucky to have the article accepted before the award application. The research conducted was on large-scale deep learning, and I am grateful to my mentor for guiding me to choose the appropriate journal. The submission was reviewed on the second day and after two months, I received the first round of comments. After making revisions, it took another month for minor adjustments. Soon after the minor adjustments, my submission was accepted. This year is the first year of open access for the journal, and the process might have been much faster compared to before. I hope it will continue to improve in the future.

June 2, 2022 - Submitted manuscript, on the same day with Journal Administrator.
Afterwards, the status has remained unchanged and there has been no contact with the editor. After a month, I sent an email to inquire and the editor said they have not been able to find reviewers yet, asking me to be patient and wait.
I continued to wait, and when it was almost two months on July 27, 2022, another editor emailed me saying there was a problem with my manuscript in the system and asked me to resubmit...

Four months after submission, there was a major revision. There were a total of six reviewers, and their comments were very fair. After resubmission, it took about 20 more days to receive the results, which required minor revisions. After making the minor revisions, it was quickly accepted.

A regular second-tier journal, received feedback from 10 reviewers for the first review, and all of them were double-blind reviews. The combined review comments totaled over 3000 words, which is more than a quarter of the main text content. It's unfortunate that it was still rejected, as just imagine the response to the review would have required writing 3000-5000 words. I really don't understand how good this journal is to be so arrogant.

Previously, when I submitted to RSE, JGR-A, and GRL, I never received so many review comments.

However, I noticed that many articles in this journal are accepted and published in less than a month. So, you know, maybe the personnel here are not suitable for submission.

After submission, it took over a week to pass the initial review. It took about a month and a half for the review process, so I reminded the editor. The editor was very patient and coincidentally, the feedback from three external reviewers came back. There were a total of 30 suggested revisions. After making the revisions, it took about a month to be accepted.
