Because I was waiting for publication, I occasionally observed how many articles were not yet published before my early access article. According to my statistical analysis, TIE publishes over 1,000 papers each year, with approximately 110 newly accepted papers entering early access each month. This number is quite stable, which may suggest that TIE accepts papers in batches. You must stand out in the final version of that batch to have a chance of being accepted! This may explain why some people have gone through several rounds of revisions and still end up being rejected. Therefore, the "awaiting eic decision" stage in the final round is quite nerve-wracking. I waited for 10 days before being accepted!

Today I received the job offer notification. The overall submission process is as follows:
First review, two months. Major revisions were given. One month later, it was sent back for revisions.
Second review, 46 days, minor revisions were suggested. There were no major issues, and it was returned after two days of modifications.
Third review, 27 days, and the acceptance notification was sent.
Overall, it feels smooth. The reviewers, associate editor, and editor-in-chief also provided timely notifications.
The overall timeline adds up to half a year, which is indeed a bit long. It's really nice to receive the job offer before graduation.

As stated on the ScholarOne Manuscripts (S1M) login page of the TIE and on the journal's website, papers without experimental verification are immediately rejected without being sent for review. Since your paper lacks experimental verification, it has been rejected for this reason. TIE strongly insists on real experiments. If a dataset is used, it must be generated by the authors through actual experiments.
