How long does it take to be submitted to the journal?

This journal is so slow, it has been almost a week since I submitted, it's really frustrating.

The status "Under Review" has changed several times in between, and currently (2022.06.06) it is still in this state.
In agony...

Porous media Top 3, no refutation accepted! The other two are JoH and WRR. Although their impact factors are not very high, they are highly recognized in the industry. Anyone involved in environmental fluid or geological fluid research would typically reference articles from this journal. In recent years, there has been a focus on the coupled problems of fractured media, with a strong emphasis on numerical work. Several classic achievements have been published here.

I submitted an article, which was handled by the editor for nearly a month. The first review took 3-4 months. There were two reviewers, one with a positive response and the other with a skeptical attitude. The comments were sharp, and they easily spotted minor errors in the formulas, even suggesting referencing a paper from Physical Review. They also raised several fundamental questions, which were quite challenging.

After arduous revisions, I wrote a 13-page response letter. After submitting the major revisions, it took about 1 month for re-review. The editor finally confirmed the acceptance, and it was a success. The whole process took approximately 5-6 months and was not easy. I am grateful to myself and thankful to the editor!

The first review took about 1 and a half months, and received comprehensive feedback from the editor-in-chief, with nearly 40 suggestions covering methodology, content, and grammar. When making revisions, it is necessary to respond to each suggestion patiently.

The second review was delayed by three months due to system issues (so it should have normally taken about 5 months). It required minor revisions, but the feedback remained targeted.

The third review only required minor revisions and was accepted within three to four days after submission.

The journal is excellent and a top publication in the field of water resources. The content review is meticulous, and there is a high demand for innovation.

Although the impact factor is slightly low and the number of articles published is very few, it can still be considered a decent journal.

Painful experience, the review process is too strict, every annotation in the figure is examined very carefully, there are sixty to seventy comments in the first review, and it is very difficult to make changes. The requirement for innovation is extremely high, and the review period is long. It is not recommended to submit an article if one is not fully confident in it. Currently, the requirements are similar to AGU's WRR, JGR, and the proportion of Chinese publications is relatively small.

The journal in the field of hydrology and WRR are equally important. The articles in the journal are highly theoretical, making it difficult to get published. The emphasis is on fluid-related articles, with a minimum requirement of being in the top tier (Zone 1). Being classified in the second tier (Zone 2) is considered humorous.

Expected annual submissions over 1200, with a publication quantity of 200. The preference is for solid and detailed papers without gimmicks, focusing on algorithms or model-related topics.
