From submission to publication, it took 35 days. Open access journals are fast (efficient when it comes to taking people's money!). Submitted on January 26th and sent for review that same night. It was reviewed by two experts. One expert gave positive feedback and approved of the research, but suggested adding a few references, modifying the title (saying it was too long), adding some content to the introduction, and modifying a figure. The other expert seemed irresponsible, only mentioning their poor English skills and requesting proofreading (it felt like they were just trying to earn proofreading fees). After spending 2 days revising the paper, I paid 1600 yuan to have it proofread by MDPI, but felt that they didn't make many changes. They issued a certificate and then requested further revisions. It was accepted on February 10th, and I was immediately asked to pay the publication fee, which I did on the same day. The editor quickly asked for the final proofreading, and it was online the next day. Overall, for the sake of graduation, there was no choice but to try this journal, but it's still important to be mindful of the publication fee, especially when it's 16,000 RMB!
