Very classic professional journal, but the number of articles published each year is too few. We submitted two papers and they were rejected, with valid reasons as our work was indeed not perfect enough. We resubmitted to Cell Reports and Embo Reports and they were accepted. The requirements are high, although the impact factor has always been low, but it is highly recognized in our small field.

It is the fastest journal in terms of post-processing for my current submission. The day after submitting, it goes directly for review. After three weeks, the first review result is given. After making revisions, the second review is returned in about ten days. After minor revisions, it is accepted directly. Although the impact factor has consistently hovered around 7, the BMC group considers it as a flagship journal on the same level as BMC Medicine, Genome Biology, and Genome Medicine. According to BMC policy, authors can submit their manuscripts to all four journals simultaneously. Of course, we still hope that the impact factor of BMC Biology can further improve, after all, domestic recognition still matters.
