After receiving the revision comments, I realized that the reason for the paper going back to "under review" from "required" on April 10th was because one reviewer recommended acceptance while another recommended rejection, and the third reviewer speculated that it was the editor's decision. Due to the lack of chemical raw materials, I didn't revise the paper until August 30th. I felt that the editor was very nice and recognized the value of the paper, as they readily agreed to a one-month extension. After revising, the paper was accepted within three weeks. I initially thought that it would be difficult for the paper to be accepted as the journal is of high quality and the paper focused more on biology, with weaker aspects in chemical synthesis. The speed is average, and it takes about a month to receive the review comments (one acceptance and one minor revision. The reviewer who accepted only wrote a generic introduction? Did they submit without completing it?). Because there are some parts in it that need to be supplemented with additional data, the revision time is longer (about one and a half months)... (due to the pandemic, my lovely juniors helped me with the supplementation). After returning the revised manuscript, the editor sent it to a third reviewer (about twenty days), and then issued an acceptance letter (with some minor revision suggestions and various procedures). Approximately one month after acceptance, it was published online. From submission to acceptance letter, it took about three months, and about four months to be published online.
The editor was very nice throughout the entire process, who is an Italian aunt.
If BMC doesn't accept it and I have to revise and submit to E***, I will be able to obtain my degree on time U•ェ•*U.
