A very tortuous submission, especially worth noting.
My first doctoral paper was submitted in April 2021, and the first round of review came back quickly with major revisions given within a month.
The second round was also relatively quick, with major revisions given within a little over a month.
Due to a change in the reviewing expert during the third round, it took nearly half a year. The fourth round of editing provided many suggestions, still requiring major revisions.
The fifth round was finally accepted. It was ultimately accepted in June 2022 and published in the same month.
