How long does this journal usually take to give a first review result? I just submitted an OCF article, is the review process long?

green dog 2023-04-07

Not bad, quite good.

佳佳 2023-03-27

It has been two weeks since the first review draft was submitted, and there is still no news. I hope everything goes smoothly.

Cej and ocf are not comparable, and it is meaningless to compare if across different fields. Which organic journal can achieve a score of 10?

There are many problems with the warning list of Zhongxin Institute, the selection process is not rigorous and transparent. Although it claims to consider many risk factors, it does not mean that the journals on the list are necessarily risky, as can be seen from the previously leaked list. It can be confirmed that Zhongxin Institute had already removed ocf from the list shortly after it was leaked last year. However, due to various reasons such as bureaucratic inertia or lack of understanding of the business, a few units' policy makers did not update their warning list in a timely manner or used it without thinking and verifying, which is a tragedy for the unit and its researchers. It can be seen that this colleague is very angry, but are you really angry at the journal? Or at Yang Da?

Don't believe in the Chinese Academy of Sciences, believe in the Chinese Chemical Society; believe in an evaluation system of a university that is not authoritative, seemingly based on rumors, and without substantial basis?! Fortunately, such universities are very few. Let's wait and see. In a big forest, there are all kinds of birds.

都督001 2023-02-06

Really, it can't be fake. Fake, it can't be real. When doing scientific research, one should not only focus on achievements, but also strive to make impactful work. Many Nobel Prize-winning works have been published in third-tier journals. Who can say that such work lacks influence?! A fair and just scientific evaluation system must be established by experts, rather than relying on a so-called third-party list to make a blanket judgment.

For a considerable period of time, OCF was classified as an illegal journal at Yangzhou University. The university does not recognize it.
Some people say that the journal catalog of Zhongxin Institute has been updated. However, Yangzhou University will not update it. The journal classification and impact factor at Yangzhou University Library are outdated. The reason given by the library is that the university has not purchased a new database, so they have been following the old one.
Therefore, it will take many years for Yangzhou University to use the Zhongxin Institute catalog, and they need to be prepared for OCF to not be recognized for a long time.

Yangzhou University is awesome.

zj1989 2023-01-16

There are always people who don't believe that OCF is included in the warning periodical and question its directory. There are teachers from our school who have submitted to OCF, but now it doesn't count for anything. I will tell everyone the name of our school, just to show that I am speaking the truth. Yangzhou University doesn't recognize it. If you don't believe it, you can go and ask Yangzhou University. In addition, recently Yangzhou University has blacklisted all journals below the second tier, including reviews. Even if you publish an article in Chemical Review, at Yangzhou University, it is considered as zero achievement. So don't just talk about OCF, even Chemical Review is considered a low-quality journal at our Yangzhou University. Yangzhou University will definitely be included in the Double First Class this year, surpassing Tsinghua University in terms of requirements.

zj1989 2023-01-16

This journal has been included in the blacklist of Zhongxin Institute. Some people say it's a bogus list, but many schools recognize it. Our Yangzhou University recognizes it. Many other provincial universities in Jiangsu also recognize it. Therefore, publishing in OCF is invalid for evaluating job titles, invalid for graduation, and cannot be counted as an achievement at the end of the year. Recently, when calculating achievements, OCF's score is 0. I'm not making empty claims, you can ask friends from Yangzhou University to find out. At Yangzhou University, OCF is considered a bogus journal.

In addition, there's CEJ, with an impact factor of 16, which is also not easy to publish in. But because it has entered the blacklist of Zhongxin Institute, it is not counted as a valid publication at Yangzhou University either. This year, several young teachers in our college regretted publishing in OCF and CEJ.

In fact, OCF is more embarrassing than CEJ. No matter how high the impact factor of CEJ is, it is still recognized by external funders. What about OCF? Even if it is recognized by funders, it is only recognized within a narrow circle. Funders recognizing it means there are very limited opportunities, very narrow.

Why is there so much irony after being rejected? It shouldn't be the case that as soon as you submit something, the school's science and technology department immediately publishes a warning journal, right?

green dog 2022-12-30

Since you already know that it is a warning periodical in advance, why did you still submit your manuscript? I am seeking an explanation.

cctrt1984 2022-12-18

OCF has entered the warning directory, and it's not just some online news. It was issued by our school's Science and Technology Office. We only recognize documents from the Science and Technology Office, as they hold more authority than the county officials. Otherwise, students cannot graduate and young teachers cannot apply for professional titles. It's as if everything is in vain.

Not only our school, but many other schools also have similar documents. Furthermore, our school has not lifted this document yet, which means it is still in effect. No one dares to publish OCF. Not only OCF, but CEJ from the Shadow 16 is also included in the warning directory. Luckily, I published CEJ before the document came out, otherwise it wouldn't count.

都督001 2022-12-15

Regarding the OCF warning message, it has been confirmed to be a rumor. The previously circulated tweets and documents have been deleted. The truth is obvious at a glance. However, unbelievably, there are still people who believe in such rumors. The intelligence tax is truly worrying. As a doctoral student, or even a young teacher, the lack of such discernment is truly a tragedy of Chinese education!!!

cctrt1984 2022-12-06

To my knowledge, Zhongxin Institute not only considers the impact factor of journals but also pays attention to academic misconduct issues in the journal operation process. For example, unethical authorship, peer review misconduct, and group culture, etc. Zhongxin Institute includes OCF in the warning journal list, and naturally, it has its reasons.

OCF is a journal managed by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Zhongxin Institute is also an institution of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Both have the same level of authority.

cctrt1984 2022-12-06

OCF is run by the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The warning system of the center is also from the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Why did the Chinese Academy of Sciences' warning journal include the journals run by the Chinese Academy of Sciences? Does the Chinese Academy of Sciences like to collaborate with each other? Or is it a way to clean up the portal? It is truly thought-provoking.

jerrrr 2022-10-11

Typical intervention by the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Firstly, 70% of the articles published in this journal are by Chinese authors, indicating a large number of connections. Secondly, with such a low impact factor, it is not reasonable for it to be classified as a top-tier journal solely based on connections. They claim to promote national journals, but this kind of distortion is a blatant attempt to artificially elevate the status. How can we have any expectations in such a situation?

green dog 2022-10-06

Additional explanation: It has been with the editor for two weeks. After two weeks, it will be sent for review, and the review results will be available in just over a month. In total, it took about one and a half months.

green dog 2022-10-06

First, OL was submitted, and then CC made revisions based on the reviewers' comments and submitted OCF. One reviewer accepted it directly, while another requested major revisions. In the end, the editor also requested major revisions.

梦梦繁星 2022-06-29

My article from the 21st is still at the editorial department and is currently undergoing initial assessment. Does anyone know when I can expect to receive an update on it? I hope it won't take too long at the editorial department.

开环重构 2022-06-11

The article was submitted on April 27th, and after the initial review, the reviewers were assigned on May 8th. The review period should have been two weeks. There were some changes in between, and then on the midnight of June 8th, I received the news that the article had been returned. The article was assigned to a Spanish editor, and the reviewer was probably also European. The reviewer was very friendly and appreciative of the work, making only a few suggestions for minor revisions.

开环重构 2022-06-04

How is your OCF? My submission has been almost 40 days, still under review and haven't received any response yet.

map 2022-05-25

Last time, I collaborated with a friend in the circle to publish an article, and it went smoothly. It was submitted by students. When it was sent back for revisions, we discovered serious misuse of images that even the reviewers didn't catch. There were also numerous errors in the data section. It scared me at the time.

Therefore, this journal is included in the warning list and is adopted by many schools for a reason.

In the future, I will definitely not submit to or reference this journal.

map 2022-05-25

It is a complete waste of time.

化小白 2022-05-24

The initial review time was 18 days and it was rejected.

化小白 2022-05-23

Today is already the 17th day, and I am still in the initial assessment. I am particularly worried, what should I do? Should I send an email to remind them? By the way, when did you submit yours? Did they possibly overlook my article?

开环重构 2022-05-23

It took me a week to complete my initial assessment, and it was only divided into editing after that. Two weeks indeed seem a bit too long.

化小白 2022-05-19

I want to ask, how long does the initial assessment for OCF typically take? It has been two weeks for me and I am still in the initial assessment phase. Should I follow up on it?

QRR1984 2022-05-17

The article that was rejected by OCF in 2020 has been published in Sustainable Energy & Fuels and has been cited over 20 times.
This year, a similar situation occurred where OCF did not review the article, but it was ultimately published in Catalysis Science & Technology, and the citation rate is expected to be high.
Now that OCF is on the warning list, it has helped me make up my mind – I will no longer hesitate to submit to them.
It's just a pity for the several articles that were previously published.
This journal has a powerful deputy editor who can greatly influence publication within the circle.

开环重构 2022-05-15

Posted on April 27th, the first step of checking the completeness of the document was quickly completed, and then it took over a week for the initial review in the second step. It was not until May 6th that it was assigned to an editor. The deputy editor-in-chief has great authority and can directly reject the submission without review. Fortunately, on the 8th, it was assigned to a reviewer, which is the fourth step. The current result is still unknown...
