Aims and Scope
Tectonics (TECT) presents original scientific contributions that describe and explain the evolution, structure, and deformation of Earth¹s lithosphere. Contributions are welcome from any relevant area of research, including field, laboratory, petrological, geochemical, geochronological, geophysical, remote-sensing, and modeling studies. Multidisciplinary studies are particularly encouraged. Tectonics welcomes studies across the range of geologic time.

Originally submitted to JGR: Solid Earth, the editor "kindly" transferred it to Tectonics after 3 days... HE: Jonathan Aitchison
Tectonics took 4 months for the first review (AE assigned after 20 days: Marc Jolivet): R#1, major revision; R#2, moderate revision; AE, major revision; HE, rejected and resubmitted.
Although HE rejected and requested resubmission, the opinions of the two reviewers and AE were actually positive and constructive. The revision was completed about 1 month later.

After resubmission, it took 40 days for the second review: R#1, accepted after minor revision; R#2, accepted; AE, accepted after minor revision; HE, minor revision.
Both reviewers were satisfied with the revised manuscript. AE provided some minor suggestions, while HE acted as a heartless messenger. The revision was completed on the same day.

After the revision, it took 10 days for the third review: no involvement of AE, HE handled it directly, minor revision.
HE provided some minor suggestions (which could have been included in the previous revision, but had to be done again... must complain), and the revision was completed on the same day.

After the revision, it took 4 days for the final review: HE, accepted.

It took 8 months from submission to acceptance, which is not considered fast, possibly due to the length of the article. The two reviewers have different research focuses, covering both aspects of the core scientific questions in the article. Their opinions were detailed, objective, and constructive. AE was rigorous and attentive, demonstrating a good grasp of the core scientific questions, technical details, and reviewer comments. As for HE... thank goodness I didn't have to do a third minor revision... and the processing speed was relatively timely.
