Aims and Scope
Surface and Coatings Technology is an international archival journal publishing scientific papers on significant developments in surface and interface engineering to modify and improve the surface properties of materials for protection in demanding contact conditions or aggressive environments, or for enhanced functional performance. Contributions range from original scientific articles concerned with fundamental and applied aspects of research or direct applications of metallic, inorganic, organic and composite coatings, to invited reviews of current technology in specific areas. Papers submitted to this journal are expected to be in line with the following aspects in processes, and properties/performance:
A. Processes: Physical and chemical vapour deposition techniques, thermal and plasma spraying, surface modification by directed energy techniques such as ion, electron and laser beams, thermo-chemical treatment, wet chemical and electrochemical processes such as plating, sol-gel coating, anodization, plasma electrolytic oxidation, etc., but excluding painting.
B. Properties/performance: friction performance, wear resistance (e.g., abrasion, erosion, fretting, etc), corrosion and oxidation resistance, thermal protection, diffusion resistance, hydrophilicity/hydrophobicity, and properties relevant to smart materials behaviour and enhanced multifunctional performance for environmental, energy and medical applications, but excluding device aspects.

Verified Reviews
Overall, the article underwent three revisions and the entire process took approximately three months. I resubmitted the article on June 19th and received an email notification from the editor on June 20th afternoon that my article had been accepted. This journal has been steadily improving its impact factor, moving from the third quartile to the first quartile. However, it is important to focus on and explain the mechanistic aspects. The review process is relatively strict, but with dedication, I believe there will be positive outcomes. Lastly, I would like to express my gratitude to the editor and the four reviewers for enhancing the quality of the article and expanding my knowledge. I am delighted to have the opportunity to publish in SCT and wish for its continuous success!

We conducted research on the direction of metal coatings, and this journal is a top journal in this field, so we have always wanted to be published in it. The editor showed great interest in my article, and it went through one major revision and three minor revisions. The reviewers were very diligent and responsible, and the last two minor revisions were more like proofreading. I have been eagerly waiting for this article to be accepted, but unfortunately, it didn't coincide with the evaluation for my doctoral interview and academic scholarships. However, I am very happy to have published a top-tier paper in the first area during my master's degree. I hope the journal continues to thrive!
