Aims and Scope

The Journal of Chemical Physics publishes quantitative and rigorous science of long-lasting value in methods and applications of chemical physics. The Journal also publishes brief Communications of significant new findings, Perspectives on the latest advances in the field, and Special Topic issues. The Journal focuses on innovative research in experimental and theoretical areas of chemical physics, including spectroscopy, dynamics, kinetics, statistical mechanics, and quantum mechanics. In addition, topical areas such as polymers, soft matter, materials, surfaces/interfaces, and systems of biological relevance are of increasing importance.

It is not easy to have an article accepted by a well-known journal in the field of physical chemistry. After submitting the manuscript, it was reviewed by two reviewers. In the first round of reviews, the first reviewer gave positive feedback but suggested significant changes to prove the feasibility of the proposed method. The second reviewer, an expert in spectroscopy in the field of physical chemistry, raised many crucial questions. Although it took three rounds of revisions, the editor was quite understanding and recognized the innovative aspects of our work. Finally, even with a few remaining reservations from the second reviewer, our article was accepted. In summary, it was indeed challenging to get our article accepted, especially considering the disruptions caused by the pandemic, which delayed the process for nearly half a year.

It is an old-established journal, but it seems that its influence in recent years is not as strong as before.
The editing process is very fast, with news guaranteed within 3 days, and the submission system displays every step of the submission process.
