Aims and Scope
The Journal of Animal Science (JAS) is the premier journal for animal science and serves as the leading source of new knowledge and perspective in this area. JAS publishes more than 500 fully reviewed research articles, invited reviews, technical notes, and letters to the editor each year.

Articles published in JAS encompass a broad range of research topics in animal production and fundamental aspects of genetics, nutrition, physiology, and preparation and utilization of animal products. Articles typically report research with beef cattle, companion animals, goats, horses, pigs, and sheep; however, studies involving other farm animals, aquatic and wildlife species, and laboratory animal species that address fundamental questions related to livestock and companion animal biology will be considered for publication.

In the field of animal science, it is a relatively well-established journal, with good quality. A few years ago, there used to be a review fee, but it was changed during a reform. When submitting in 2021, there was no longer a fee required. The speed of the review process varies depending on the individuals and the articles.

The first article was submitted on December 29th, 2021, and the first major revision was made in mid-March. The process was delayed due to a slow process of applying for a doctoral modification. It was returned for revision in late April, and another major revision was made in late May. Busy with graduation defense, it was not returned for revision until the end of June. The third major revision was made in late September, but there were not many changes needed. It was accepted a week later after returning. The entire cycle took nearly a year, with slow review and slow revisions, either due to preparing for a doctoral degree or graduation.

In another article, it received minor revisions a month later, and it was returned a week later. It was accepted the next day.

Ultimately, it depends on the editors, reviewers, and the author's own speed of revisions.

JAS is considered a relatively good journal in animal husbandry. Currently, there is no need to pay a review fee for submission. Generally, there are two reviewers, and their recommendations are quite professional and serious. However, the review process and online speed are not particularly fast.
