ISSN / eISSN

Aims and Scope
Biology and Fertility of Soils publishes in English original papers, reviews and short communications on all fundamental and applied aspects of biology – microflora and microfauna - and fertility of soils. It offers a forum for research aimed at broadening the understanding of biological functions, processes and interactions in soils, particularly concerning the increasing demands of agriculture, deforestation and industrialization. The journal includes articles on techniques and methods that evaluate processes, biogeochemical interactions and ecological stresses, and sometimes presents special issues on relevant topics.

Personal experience is very good, from submission to acceptance it took about three and a half months. The editor is the chief editor Prof. Paolo Nannipieri. The manuscript processing speed is very fast, and the chief editor himself will carefully read the article, including its content and language. The editor and the three reviewers all recognized the innovation of the experiment, but they provided very detailed suggestions for revision. The reviewer's comments were 8 pages long, totaling 3600+ words, with the chief editor's comments being 2 pages long. It took a month to make the revisions, and finally, a reply letter of nearly 27 pages and 7800 words was written (there were several breakdowns during this period). The main text was also extensively revised (there were several breakdowns during this period). Fortunately, it seems that the editor did not send it for a second external review (although the status is still "under review"), and the second round of revisions only had a few comments from the editor (it seems that there was no major or minor revision, only modifications), which was quite a pleasant surprise.

As previous people have said, the editor does recommend citing articles from this journal (not mandatory). He recommended 4 articles to me, and 2 of them were directly related to my content, so I cited them. If possible, I suggest citing some recent articles published by BFS, maybe it can improve the favorability?

In addition, this time the information about the recommended reviewers was written in great detail, I wonder if it is also related to the relatively fast review process.

Good luck to everyone with their submissions!

Old soil science journals, ranked second only to SBB. Professor Paolo Nannipieri, the editor-in-chief, is specially responsible and also participates in the review process. His work efficiency is very high. In the first round of revisions, he provided many suggestions. We made thorough revisions to the manuscript and returned it to the editorial department. The editor-in-chief was very satisfied and asked us to make minor revisions in the second round before accepting it. The manuscript was submitted on January 7th and published online on March 20th, taking a total of 2 and a half months. This is considered a relatively fast publication for me. Therefore, I highly recommend this well-established and classic soil science journal.
