Many CEOs are publicly gearing up for yet another return-to-office push. Privately, though, executives expect remote work to keep on growing, according to a new survey. That makes sense: Employees like it, the technology is improving, and — at least for hybrid work — there seems to be no loss of productivity. Despite the headlines, executives expect both hybrid and fully remote work to keep increasing over the next five years. https://hbr.org/2023/08/survey-remote-work-isnt-going-away-and-executives-know-it What is your opinion?

Scientists at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) are studying how the ocean could help us stave off the worst effects of a warming world. In a new effort, PNNL-Sequim researchers have teamed up with carbon sequestration technology company Ebb Carbon to test their technology that removes acid from seawater, allowing that seawater to absorb carbon dioxide without further acidifying the ocean. https://youtu.be/V72PIdofLIo?si=jOspn0aiKjG7CONa This work is currently being supported by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Water Power Technologies Office, Climate Works and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Ocean Acidification Program.

Commented on Learning habits: does the digital generation have digital stress and how does it affect the learning of mathematics?
In my opinion, learning math, even remotely, should not be stressful. There are many interactive online tools for distance learning. Math teachers should introduce more online tools and storytelling and make learning math fun as a game. What is the opinion of the author of this poster?

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has successfully landed its Chandrayaan-3 Lander Module on the surface of the Moon. Chandrayaan-3 launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota Range (SDSC SHAR), India, on 14 July 2023 on a mission to demonstrate new technologies and to achieve India’s first soft landing on another celestial body. The spacecraft arrived in lunar orbit on 5 August. On 17 August, the lander module separated from the propulsion module and soon after began its descent to the surface. On 23 August, after a nail-biting wait, ISRO confirmed that Chandrayaan-3’s lander had successfully touched down in the Moon’s southern polar region as planned. https://www.isro.gov.in/Chandrayaan3.html

Adobe recently conducted research on digital workers’ perceptions of AI technologies, as well as their value in the workplace. 6,049 digital workers were surveyed across five countries—the U.S., UK, Australia, India, and Japan—including both rank-and-file employees and senior leaders who are using digital technologies. The findings reveal their perceptions and aspirations around how AI can change the way we work. Following are the top three insights from the research: AI is empowering the digital workforce; Generative AI is viewed as a productivity multiplier; and Business leaders view adoption and use of generative AI as inevitable. https://www.technologyreview.com/2023/07/25/1076532/generative-ai-is-empowering-the-digital-workforce/ Any comments?
