The Sustainable Total Productive Maintenance: An Evolved System Approach, from the Methodology to the Ideology of the Today’s Company
Authors: Anouar Hallioui, Brahim Herrou
Journal: Proceedings of the International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management
Description:
Since the exacerbation of companies’ competitiveness from the 2nd World War until today, there are many historical processes that have contributed to the evolution of the company, as well as its methodologies and culture in general. This work was carried out in the context of a comprehensive and presentative study of a system approach that was created just to improve the preventive maintenance methods in the 1970s. But this approach has evolved according to the finalities of the company changing and aiming to be adapted to its changing external environment in terms of industrial performance, indeed, according to the evolution of the company’s competitiveness! This is the Total Productive Maintenance, in view that according to the literature, we have found that since the appearance of this approach in Japan in the 1970s until today, it has known a very evolutionary perspective that we have concretized in its different definitions by scientists, academics and researchers from the industrial world! We confirm the progressive penetration of the systemic thinking, in fact, the penetration of the system approach and its system analysis tool in the company’s cultural structure, to regenerate it and leave the company always tending towards the management model of body with holistic behavior and organized according to the finality of optimizing the production systems maintenance, productivity, and safety while ensuring a production of irreproachable quality products. Since its creation until now, the TPM has known more than 25 definitions and several perspectives! These perspectives have changed according to the context of the TPM as an intellectual project that goes beyond the scale or the concept of methodology or strategy within the company, for acting on its ideology and anchoring the production system sustainability mindset at all levels of the company as a whole. According to Hallioui and Herrou (2020a, 2020b), “the challenge of economic performance is becoming more and more heavy on companies in a context of diversified constraints imposed by their environment. Furthermore, history proves the permanent and incessant change of the company’s competitive environment, putting it in a stifling field of competitiveness, which forces the companies around the world to commit to the permanent optimization of their economic performance based on the continuous improvement of their production resources”. This is to ensure their sustainability within a changing international context! But until today, the Overall Equipment Effectiveness is expressed in terms of availability rate, performance rate, and quality rate, there is no parameter emphasizing the sustainability! In addition to this, the TPM deployment does not consider the sustainability pillar of the system. Therefore, during the TPM implementation, manufacturers forget the major objective and natural need of the company which is its sustainability! That is why we thought of broadening the dimension of the TPM, by bringing the sustainability matter reducing the resistance to its implementation at the level of the company, which puts in front of today’s companies around world, a Sustainable Total Productive Maintenance (STPM) that goes beyond the concept of methodology, to focus on the company ideology.

System Approach of Production System Reliability and Maintainability
Authors: Anouar Hallioui, Brahim Herrou
Journal: Proceedings of the International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management
Description:
History proves the permanent and incessant change of the competitive environment of the company, putting it in a stifling field of competitiveness, which forces the companies around the world to commit to the permanent optimization of their economic performance based on the continuous improvement of their production resources, in particular their material manufacturing systems, and this is linked to the need for continuous renewal and development of approaches to improve their dependability, aiming to manage the manufacturing systems with a multidimensional, flexible and crossroads approach of control and optimization, making the optimal dependability and the minimum cost of maintenance of the integrity of a material manufacturing system two faces of a same species. In this perimeter, our research work aims to improve the reliability and maintainability attributes of a system in all its life phases and within a field of maintenance cost constraints of its subsystems , by establishing a system approach applied to reliability and maintainability, making the bridge from the science of failures and breakdowns to the discipline of mathematical programming that is part of the science of operations research. It is in view of our dynamic vision allowing us to perceive the holistic character of production system. Keywords Manage the manufacturing systems, field of maintenance cost constraints, holistic character of production system, system approach applied to reliability the maintainability, from the science of failures and breakdowns to the discipline of mathematical programming.

System Approach of Production System Safety
Authors: Anouar Hallioui, Brahim Herrou
Journal: Proceedings of the International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management
Description:
The challenge of the economic performance is becoming more and more heavy on the companies in a context of diversified constraints imposed by their macro-system, indeed, by their environment. It is obvious that the performance of production systems is directly proportional to the level of safety of their resources. In this perimeter, our work aims to improve one of attributes of the dependability of production systems, which is the safety, during all phases of a system's life, by using a system approach developed and applied to the safety, we have called it "The Production System Safety Approach". It allows to harmonize the safety to the different processes of the company in general, and to harmonize it to the production process in particular. It is based on our hypothesis of safety of classes of subsystems and interactions according to the general hierarchical diagram of a system, making reference to our development of a new tool called "Plan of Microscopic Analysis of Risks related to Classes of Subsystems (or MARCS Plan)".

System Analysis: A Literature Review
Authors: Anouar Hallioui, Brahim Herrou
Journal: Proceedings of the International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management
Description:
Everything that exists in nature competes without ceasing on its part, for a finality that makes its raison to be and ensures its continuity and that of its environment. The dynamic vision attached to the systemic thinking is a modern vision, because it is opposed to the static vision related to the analytical (classical) thinking! According to our research in the literatures on this subject, in 1637, René Descartes launched his ''Discourse on the Method'' which was the model for many research works before systemic and system analysis in particular, and which is now a classic, as soon as the system analysis appeared in the XX th century, filled in the ''New Discourse on the Method'' of the specialist in systemic and constructivist epistemology, Mr. Jean-Luis Le Moigne in his work ''The General System Theory : Modeling Theory''. ''Each discourse has its paradigm'' as Le Moigne (1977) said in his New Discourse on the Method! The precepts of the new discourse on the method, as well as the characteristics of the open system paradigm as a new system paradigm defined by the systemic in general, have given after several historical processes the bankruptcy of the classic discourse of Descartes. Keywords Dynamic vision, systemic, system analysis, the precepts of the new discourse on the method, new system paradigm defined by the systemic.

System Approach for Improving the Dependability of Production Systems, State of the Art
Authors: Anouar Hallioui, Brahim Herrou
Journal: Proceedings of the International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management
Description:
During all the historical processes which the world knew in the industrial field, from the first manufactures until today, while passing by course of the industrial revolution in XIX th century, the development of the mode of management of the company made always the concern for managers, business leaders and industrial researchers. The way to see, consider, understand, analyze and lead an organization must depend on the environmental constraints applied, because the incessant change in the business environment on all fronts has always been proof of the need to gradually rethink how the organization is managed. It was the trigger for the global experience with organizational management models, brought about by the transition from the Taylorian model of seeing the company as a whole, to a process system or "System composed of subsystems mutually influencing themselves through interactions and having their own objectives but working together towards a common goal" according to the work of researcher Jay W. Forrester. We aim to enhance and implement the system approach in the sphere of improving the dependability of a production system, in order to synchronize optimizing the Safety, Reliability, Maintainability and Availability attributes to optimizing the maintenance cost for a system. Keywords System approach, improving the dependability of a production system, subsystems, interactions, optimizing the maintenance cost for a system.
