Umbilicus Is a Strategic Area of Newborn Body
Authors: Abdelmonem Awad Hegazy
Journal: SunText Review of Case Reports & Images 1(2): 1-2
Description:
Vital signs of newborns are essential to be assessed immediately after birth. These include heart rate, breathing and temperature. Following initial assessment, a complete investigation of the baby from head to toes should be done including the colour of skin and eye conjunctiva and body weight. Such investigation might focus on particular regions such as head circumference and morphology. Careful examination of genitalia is also suggested to avoid confusions in ambiguous cases. Thereafter, the region of umbilicus might take a special attention.

Journal: European Journal of anatomy, 24 (4): 269-272 (2020)
Description:
ABSTRACT Identification of anatomical variations is es-sential to understand and perfectly manage the correlated clinical disorders. One of such disorders is shoulder pain that might result from entrapment of suprascapular nerve at the narrow supracondy-lar foramen. In this article, we report a rare case of absence of such foramen. With absence of the foramen, there is an increasing potentiality of nerve entrapment beneath the superior scapular transverse ligament. Therefore, investigation of such anatomical variation is suggested for proper management of cases of shoulder pain and dys-function.

Description:
Nowadays, the coronavirus epidemic represents a major threat to the human being, represented by great numbers of deaths and wide world life disrupt. COVID-19 virus, is not only representing a threat to the life of human being, but also to the economic activities that nearly stopped in many countries due to the partial to complete closure of life activities in order to control the wide spread of virus infections. In these extraordinary and unprecedented critical times of human being life, it is essential to review and discus the virus epidemic in trial to suggest an idea that might be beneficial to researchers to find out an exit from this dark tunnel and to prevent as possible epidemic recurrence. Many attempts of management protocols and trials all over the world, nearly failed until now to control the wide spread and the high incidence of morbidity and mortality of this viral infection. In this review, we highlight the virology and pathogenesis of epidemic and possible used therapeutics in a simplified and concise form to be easily understood and available for healthcare members and even general population. This might help in control and eradication of the current epidemic.

Potential role of Moringa Oleifera in alleviating paracetamol-induced nephrotoxicity in rat
Moringa Apoptosis Microanatomy Nephroprotection

Journal: European Journal of Anatomy
Description:
ABSTRACT The kidney plays a vital role in eliminating the toxic substances and drug metabolites from blood. Therefore, it is prone to hazards in case of abuse or overdose of drugs. The aim of the work was to clarify the impact of Moringa oleifera (MO) against the nephrotoxic effect of paracetamol in adult male albino rats. Twenty-eight adult male albino rats were used in this study and divided equally into four groups (G); G1 (control G), G2 (paracetamol-treated animals), G3 (paracetamol- plus high MO-treated G), G4 (high MO-treated rats). Kidney specimens were harvested after anesthetizing the animals, and then processed for histological and DNA comet analysis. Biochemical blood investiga-tions for kidney function were also performed through assessment of serum creatinine (Cr) and blood urea nitrogen (BUN). Administration of para-cetamol resulted in genotoxicity and marked bio-chemical and renal histological changes. It caused a significant increase in Cr and BUN levels and degeneration in both proximal and distal convolut-ed tubules with glomerular changes. Administra-tion of MO with paracetamol led to a noticeable amelioration of previous mentioned changes. Moringa oleifera is suggested to be an effectivenephroprotection against paracetamol-induced damage. Further studies are recommended to con-firm the protective role of MO using large numbers of different animal models before investigating it in humans.

Potentiality of Postponing Menopause through Ovarian Auto-graft Transplantation
Anatomy Embryology Gynecology Fertility
Authors: Hegazy AA
Journal: Journal of Gynecology & Reproductive Medicine
Description:
Menopause is a critical stage in the life of women in which the menses stop with loss of fertility. Deprivation of female hormones especially estrogen might be accompanied with some physical and psychological disorders. Therefore, this mini-review aimed to highlight the anatomy of the ovary at different age stages and to discuss the possibility of using technology of cryopreservation in postponing the menopause to alleviate its associated disorders and ensure healthy life for women. Ovarian tissue cryopreservation has been successfully used for rescuing the harvested ovary from destruction that could be caused by chem- or radiotherapy used in cases of cancer management. Then, slices of such tissues re-implanted into the patients give good results restoring the fertility and hormonal production. Therefore, it is suggested that trials to re-transplant ovarian auto-graft might be performed to postpone the menopause in volunteers in order to preserve endocrine function of ovary.

Description:
Cypermethrin (CYP) a type of insecticides is in common use. It has been found to be accumulated in the different body tissues leading to organ dysfunction. This study aimed to investigate the toxicity of CYP on thyroid gland structure and the possible ameliorating effect of ginger. Fifty adult male albino rats were used and equally divided into 5 groups (10 rats/group). Group I received only balanced diet and tap water. Group II rats were given corn oil (solvent of CYP). Group III (ginger extract group) received 750 mg/Kg body weight (BW) by gavage. Group IV (CYPtreated group) rats were given CYP (20 mg/kg BW) dissolved in corn oil by gavage. Group V (CYP and ginger extract- treated group) received CYP followed with ginger extract by the same manner mentioned above. After 14 days, venous blood samples were collected for assaying serum T3, T4 and TSH levels. Rats were anaesthetized then sacrificed. The thyroid gland was harvest for light and electron microscope examinations. The CYP-treated group showed histopathological and ultrastructure changes of thyroid follicles that appeared distended with flattened lining epithelium. Follicular cells showed vacuolation in their cytoplasm. Other follicles were lined by multiple layers of follicular cells (stratification). Many electron empty zones devoid of organelles and disrupted dilated cisternae of rough endoplasmic reticulum were noticed. Absence of microvilli congested dilated blood vessels and many collagen fibers were also detected. Follicular cells had apoptotic nuclei. Such alterations were associated with a highly significant increase in TSH (p<0.001) concomitant with decrease of T3 and T4. On the other hand, coadministration of ginger extract was noticed to ameliorate the damaging effects of CYP on thyroid tissues in animals of group V. It is suggested that co-administration of ginger could alleviate or minimize the possible toxicity resulting from CYP exposure.
