Summary: Through a case series and literature review, it was found that Bartonella infection can mimic PR3-ANCA-associated vasculitis with involvement of the kidneys and endocarditis, while Coxiella infection may induce vasculitis affecting vessels of all sizes, with 75% presenting as cryoglobulinaemia vasculitis.

Summary: This study describes the spectrum and initial impact of pulmonary manifestations in primary systemic vasculitides. Pulmonary manifestations were observed in all types of vasculitides, with eosinophilic GPA, microscopic polyangiitis, and granulomatosis with polyangiitis being the most common. Pulmonary manifestations were more severe and associated with permanent damage in ANCA-associated vasculitis.

Summary: Cutaneous involvement can be a significant indicator of both COVID-19 and rickettsioses, both of which share a similar mechanism of infecting endothelial cells and causing vasculopathy. Rickettsial infections are characterized by eschars, while critically ill COVID-19 patients may exhibit eschars and necrotic lesions.

Summary: This study evaluated severe infections in AAV patients receiving rituximab in a single Chinese center. Severe infections were common, with pulmonary infections being the leading cause and most infections occurring within the first 12 months of treatment. Older age and renal dysfunction were identified as risk factors for infection.

Summary: Patients with localized granulomatosis with polyangiitis (L-GPA) present with different clinical features compared to systemic GPA (S-GPA), with younger age, less frequent saddle nose deformity or subglottic stenosis, and lower PR3-ANCA positivity. Treatment strategies also vary, with less frequent use of CYC and more frequent use of a combination of MTX and glucocorticoids in L-GPA patients. Despite similar relapse risks between L-GPA and S-GPA, L-GPA patients have higher overall survival rates and more frequent relapses in the ENT and lung regions.

Summary: Procalcitonin (PCT) may be useful for differentiating between infections and flare in patients suffering from antineutrophil-cytoplasmic-antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitides (AAV). The study found that PCT levels were significantly higher in the infected group compared to the relapsing group. C-reactive protein (CRP) levels were also higher in cases of infection.

Summary: This study aims to describe the clinical and pathological features of cutaneous vasculitis (CV) associated with SLE, focusing on diagnosis classification and its impact on overall SLE activity. The study included 39 patients, with 90% being females. Cutaneous manifestations of CV included palpable purpura and urticarial lesions, with the lower limbs being the most affected location. Sjogren's syndrome was found to be more prevalent in SLE patients with CV compared to those without CV.

Summary: This study aimed to identify risk factors associated with severe infections in patients with antineutrophil cytoplasm antibody-associated vasculitis (AAV). The use of low-dose TMP/SMX was found to be associated with a reduced risk of severe infections in patients treated with either rituximab (RTX) or cyclophosphamide (CYC)/azathioprine (AZA). Reduced B cell subpopulations at the start of treatment may be a useful indicator of reduced immunocompetence.

Summary: Systemic vasculitides are a type of multisystem blood vessel disorders classified by vessel size. Prompt identification is crucial due to the potentially serious outcomes associated with these conditions. Ethnic and regional differences in incidence and clinical characteristics should be taken into account.

Summary: Multidisciplinary management of worsening heart failure in the elderly can improve survival, but insufficient numbers of patients receive specialised cardiology care in France, leading to increased risk of rehospitalisation and mortality. The French patient pathway for HF involves three key stages: presentation, stabilisation, and transitional care, with prompt identification and management of HF diagnosis, severity, and precipitating factors.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the effect of phosphodiesterase 4 (PDE4) inhibition on neutrophil activation in Behcet's disease (BD). The results showed that surface markers, reactive oxygen species (ROS) production, and neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) production were upregulated in BD patient neutrophils. Inhibition of PDE4 significantly reduced neutrophil surface activation markers, ROS production, NETosis, and genes and pathways related to innate immunity, intracellular signaling, and chemotaxis.
